Broiling and Roasting Foods

Broiling food is cooking above or below intense direct radiant heat, as with a grill or oven broiler element. Broiling is a dry heat cooking method and the food cooks quickly. Roasting is a dry heat cooking method. Food is cooked in an oven, over a fire, and in some cases, is buried in the hot embers.

I recently cooked a pork roast and a rancid smelly white foam blew out of the back of the roast..what could have caused this?

I'm not sure, but I just had the exact same thing happen to me tonight! I am returningit to butchery tomorrow, and will post again if I find anything out.. Meg from NZ

If you have been cooking a pork roast for 3 hours can you leave it in the cork pot over night on warm?

I would not advise it. This is where you need a thermometer. The temperature of the roast should not go below 135°F - unless it is being served or heading to the fridge. 'Warm' on a crock pot might go below that which could permit pathogens to grow. The thermostat on crock pots is uncertain. I have one pot that boils on 'warm' and another that doesn't.

I have had a crock pot cooking overnight, but never on 'warm'.

How long do you broil chicken thighs for?

About 45 Minutes marinated with a tablespoon of olive oil added to the marinade before cooking

sorry, if you BROIL anything for 45 mins it will be black and on fire. broil is the highest setting on the oven and continuous heat. you can bake for 45 mins but dont broil it that long. like steak you should only broil about 5 mins on one side and 5 on the other, take it out, cover with foil for about 10 mins to let it finish cooking. i have not done this yet, but im trying tonight, but i do know you can not broil it for 45 mins or you will set your house on fire!!

ok so i just read that you do the chicken thighs 10 to 15 on each side.

What is the oven preheat temperature for broiling beef?

Broiling beef does not have to have the oven preheated first. Broiling entails a flame over the beef. As long as the flame is turned on ahead of time, the beef will cook.
