Calculus

The branch of mathematics that deals with the study of continuously changing quantities, with the use of limits and the differentiation and integration of functions of one or more variables, is called Calculus. Calculus analyzes aspects of change in processes or systems that can be modeled by functions. The English physicist, Isaac Newton, and the German mathematician, G. W. Leibniz, working independently, developed calculus during the 17th century.

What does y equals 9 mean when x equals 16?

This is slightly out of context but you will have an equation of a graph we call it x and y because they are the axises we use on a graph. Usually in an equation we try to find the value of y. An equation that works in this case is y=x-7 but there are many others.

But if we use the example i have given when x=16 this means y=16-7 which is 9 if you were to plot this point on a graph it would be 16 across the x axis and 9 up

Hope this helps

What does 1 and three fifth plus four fifths equal?

1 3/5 + 4/5 = 12/5 (<improper fraction) or as a mixed fraction, 2 2/5

(2 and two fifths)

Is y equals lxl plus 3 a function?

Assuming the domain and codomain are properly defined, then YES.

What method to use on this equation 5x plus 10-20 and-5x plus y equals 9?

5x = 10 - 20 gives 5x = -10 so that x = -10/5 = -2.

Substitute this value in the second equation:

-5*-2 + y = 9

that is 10 + y = 9

so that y = -1

How do you write 6 x 3 equals 18 in vertical form?

It is a little difficult the show this on here, but it will look like this.

6

x 3

--------

18

(Except the 6 & 18 will be lined up with the 3) - This website does not want to let me do this to show you.

What do you use to find the area of a circle?

use this. A(area) = pi x r2 ( pi, which is 3.14 or 22/7, times the radius squared (r x r) )

What is 4 plus 2x minus-2x plus 1 equals 13 plus 6?

4+2x-2x+1=13+6

Combine like terms. (4+1=5; 2x-2x=0; 13+6=19)

5=19

8.4 plus Y equals 13.4 - Y?

8.4 + Y = 13.4 - Y

Add 'Y' to each side of the equation"

8.4 + 2Y = 13.4

Subtract 8.4 from each side:

2Y = 5

Divide each side by 2:

Y = 2.5

What is mean by hyperbola?

A hyperbola is a conic section. It is a curve in 2-dimensional space whose equation is of the form (x - a)*(y - b) = c where a, b and c are constants.

The curve is asymptotic at the points x = a and y = b.

Please solve this question ASAP 5x to the power of 2 - 4x equals 3x to the power of 2 - 2x?

5x2 - 4x = 3x2 - 2x

Subtract 3x2 from each side:

2x2 - 4x = -2x

Add 2x to each side:

2x2 - 2x = 0

Divide each side by 2:

x2 - x = 0

Factor the left side:

x(x - 1)=0

x = 0

and

x = 1

It took me almost 4 minutes, since I ran into some traffic.
