The1959 dollar is 20% copper and 80% silver. 1,443,502 were made. Today (12/10/09) the spot price of silver is $17.70 an ounce. It's worth, just for the the bullion content should be judged accordingly. It is definitely worth more than a dollar.

1 cent to maybe 1 dollar, depending on condition, unless it is certified as a high-grade uncirculated coin by one of the major third party grading services. Then it is still worth less than the price someone paid to have it certified.

I agree with the comment above. Roughly 5 cents. But what the last person failed to inform you was that the value of a coin strongly relies on the grade of the coin.

If your coin still has original mint luster, and strong details, it could be around the $30. mark.

It's really not worth much more than a cent, but if you need one to fill a hole in your collection, a dealer will probably charge at least 25 cents for the time it takes to open his register and take your money. He'll sell you an uncirculated one for a couple of dollars. And, YES, cleaning a coin will lower its numismatic value. It's OK to soak it in DISTILLED water and PURE soap (not detergent), brush off any loosened dirt with an artist's camel hair brush, and allow to air-dry. Anything more aggressive will cause hairline scratches and leave the coin with an un-natural appearance that collectors do not want.

I recently sold a 1935 at an auction site and got a little over 9 dollars for it-the 37 is a little lower mintage and might be worth a little more--although this date range has low mintage that doesn't nescacarily mean its a key date with Canadian currency where a similar coin in US currency would be a sought after piece

The Bluenose was put on the dime because it is one of Canada's Prides. The Bluenose was an undefeated ship and was the fastest of it's time. It is currnely un ther the Atlantic ocean somewhere in hati (it crashed ther in 1946). The Bluenose II is currenly active in Nova Scotia.

Look at the 7 in the date. If its tip is pointed, the coin would sell for 20 to 50 cents in average condition. If the tip is blunt, its value would be about double those numbers.
