Caste system is used for community living and identifying various groups of populations for ease of common habits and customs in ancient India. Other wise prior to that era only 4 varnas are there based on type of work done for living. Later people started identifying themselves based on their work like farmers, pujaris,gold smiths,Barbers,warriors etc.
Why was the caste system created?
no one is sure, but ideas about skin color were probobly part of it. The Aryans were a light skinned people. They thought they were better than dark skinned people they encountered in India. This idea was wrong but the Aryans believed it.
Another reason the Aryans might have created the caste system was because the people they had encountered in India greatly outnumbered them. The caste system kept groups seperate and set the rules for everyone's behavior. This helped the Aryans maintain control.
In the Aryan Caste System, there were five groups that you could be in.
1. Brahmins ( Priests)
2. Kshatriyas (Warriors and rulers)
3. Vaishyas (Peasants and traders)
4. Shudras (Laborers)
and last, but not least,
5. The "Untouchables"
The Untouchables were considered untouchables, because they did jobs that were ''polutants''. Anything to do with feces, blood, or killing anything put you directly into the Untouchables catagory.

The earlier Shunga of eastern central Indian and Satavahana of southern and central India have references to many officials bearing the surname Gupta. But relationships of these persons in earlier empires from the east with the Imperial Guptas is not yet determined. However Gupta Empire records and Chinese records provided by the later I-Tsing, furnished the names of the first three rulers of the Gupta Dynasty, Maharaja Sri Gupta, Maharaja Sri Ghatotkacha and Ghatotokacha's son, Maharajadhiraja Sri Chandragupta, considered the first Gupta emperor. Historian K. P. Jaiswal suggested that the Guptas belonged to the jat . But his theory lacked conclusive proofs, and it was discarded. One historian has put forth a different theory about the ancestry of the Guptas. According to him, in the Panchobh Copper Plate, some kings bearing the title Guptas and related to the imperial Gupta Dynasty, claimed themselves as Kshatriyas. This theory has been generally accepted by modern scholars.
The identification of the Guptas as Kshatriyas is supported by the historical records such as copper plate inscriptions .
It is therefore clear that Guptas actually belong to kshatriya caste . its only later on that many other people like rajpots claimed kshatriya caste by the pandits even while rajputs lost so many battles. Also there are so many other communities who have no king in the history of India but claim kshatriya even when they are not kshatriya
Thus , in reality Guptas are real kshatriyas .

They used to give their identity with the surname of the king eg. "Chouhan Walle". Calling oneself a rajput means a lot. They must understood the fundamental characteristics of being a rajput and then only one should pronounce to be a rajput. First look at your financial status, your looks whether you look like a prince or GOLA , have bold heart or Chaploose because I have seen many aam rajputs self praising themselves but in another scenario they are the first to lick ass of their bosses or shivering when it comes to fight , on that occasion their real man comes out and shows they belong to some lower caste of the society. So before pronouncing oneself as rajput one shall measure on the scale on financial status, body, guts, intelligence, facial complexion and other Princely parameters and then see whether they qualifying for a GOLAput or rajput. Being a Ph.d student of social changes I surprise how lower caste did upliftment of their caste under the name of Rajputs by shifting their place and adding king's surname behind their name and offering their daughters to Bhahmins. This could be understood again by the conversation between the two.

First look at that because a royal blood would never allow doing those things but they do it means their blood is reflecting their caste and we can conclude they were doing those jobs in all time in Indian history. This is how caste conversion happened for Aam rajputs. rajput is never a caste but lower caste for their benefits got converted into aam rajputs and made it a caste. Only samwanti Rajput qualifies to be a real Rajput because they fit into the criteria of being Rajput. Rest of aam rajputs are GOLAs. So please don't make a joke of yours. Ghar pe nahi khane ko dane and ban gaye prince from Rajput gharane.
