When giving a gift of money how much is appropriate when the bride is a niece that you hardly ever see?

that is ocmepletly up to you. its your money. if you would like to give lots, give it. they can spend it at their lesure. i suggest getting to know your niece a bit better. spend a day out and maybe go shopping or have lunch. if you come to the desision that she is responsible enough for a large gift and wont waste it then do what you want. as i said its your money so its entirly up to you.

Answer 2: It is up to you, but situations like this, graduations etc is where I usually give the $50 Visa or Amex gift cards. $50 doesnt make you seem cheap and everybody can use them everywhere.

Also an answer: If the reception is at an upscale banquet hall most people give in accord with the cost per meal per person. Between $50 to $75 or $100 you can never go wrong.

Why would you choose Saint Christopher?

Why not? St. Christopher--a martyr--has a great background story and he is known as the patron saint of quite a lot of patronages, among them include: gardeners, bookbinders, select cities, and mariners, among others (source: Catholic Encyclopedia at newadvent.org)

According to the story he was known to have met Christ as a child and took Christ across a river. While Christopher was carrying the Christ-child, the child became heavier by each step with an intense river current. Once on the other side, he asked Christ what happened and Christ told Christopher that he (Christopher) was carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders in troubled times.

His name literally means "Christ-bearer". So I don't see why St. Christopher can't be taken. It's a great name for a Confirmation candidate.

Roman Catholic AnswerThe character is an indelible spiritual mark with which Our Blessed Lord marks you as a Christian to be his witness before people.

1304 Like Baptism which it completes, Confirmation is given only once, for it too imprints on the soul an indelible spiritual mark, the "character," which is the sign that Jesus Christ has marked a Christian with the seal of His Spirit by clothing him with power from on high so that he may be His witness.

How many confirmation hours do most people need?

Confirmation is an obligarory Sacrament of the Roman church. It can only be bestowed by a Bishop or higher cleric. I was confirmed at age ll in l967 ( sometimes it seems a distant as l9ll). I attended CCD classes ( as i went to a Lay school) all were gender -discreet in that period- there were separate boys and girls classes, ceremonies, and even probably books. ( all references were to the male gender in ours) this was a juvenile or teenage thing- I would guess about maybe two thirds of an academic year was in the purely practical Confirmation sylabbus=- with classes increasing ( several times a week ) as the ceremonial date approached. I have no idea how long it would take if taken as a sort of correspondence-school approach- as you seem to suggest- I was confirmed in a big ceremony- hundreds of candidates involved- a big, formal thing. I have no idea how it work with an adult converted candidate. Keep the Faith!

Can you have manuela as your confirmation name?

In many English-speaking countries and in German-speaking lands, as well as in Poland, it is customary for a person being confirmed in the Roman Catholic Church (and some Anglican dioceses) to adopt the name of a saint with whom he/she feels a special affinity, thus securing an additional patron saint to be his/her protector and guide. The saint's name is often used in conjunction with the confirmee's middle name, and is without effect in civil law, unless, of course, the confirmand pursues the appropriate legal avenues. Hope this helps!

How does confirmation reveal the participants beliefs?

Confirmation is a sacrament, usually imparted by the Bishop, or by a priest who has be appointed by him for this. Like all sacraments, confirmation imparts grace to the person receiving it, although this grace is like a seed, and must be activated by living free from sin (going to confession) and actively using it so that it may grow. The actual confirmation ceremony would only reveal the fact that the person receiving the sacrament believes in it, or, at least, that his parents or sponsors believe in it (the recipient may be an infant). It is only in living out your life in accordance with your confirmation that you would reveal your beliefs, not in the ceremony itself.

What food do you eat at confirmation?

There is no special food eaten at Confirmation, which is celebrated (now) when a child is in their mid-teens. The wafer and communion is given during the Communion part of the Sacrament of Confirmation, but that is not "food". After the service, some families celebrate in a variety of ways. Some have cake and ice cream; others have lunch then cake; many others go eat in a restaurant so it will be more pleasurable for everyone.
