She would pick up the baby in her mouth, climb the tree, then go out on a limb, and holding on to it, she would lower the baby as close to the ground as possible and drop it. In this instance he'd only fall about 6'. Then she would race down the tree and nudge the baby very close to the trunk of the tree. She'd wait about 30 seconds and then go through the entire routine again. I eventually realized that her pushing the baby toward the trunk of the tree and waiting, was to see if he got the idea that he was supposed to climb. After doing this about 4 or 5 times, he put a foot/ paw up and she'd wait longer. But if he pulled it back down, she'd pick him up and race up the tree and drop him again. After about half an hour he was standing on his hind legs with front feet up on the tree but still hadn't climbed.
