Many people ask when Cleopatra was born. Well I have the answer for them. Cleopatra was actually born in the winter of 69 B.C. Cleopatra was born in an old temple in Alexandria, Egypt. Cleopatra was born in Alexandria because her father, Ptolemy, was there in a war with Alexander the Great. Her mother traveled to Alexandria so her father could see Cleopatra at birth. Later in 51 B.C Ptolemy Auletes, Pharaoh of Egypt, dies, leaving his kingdom to his 18-year-old daughter, Cleopatra, and her younger brother Ptolemy XIII. Pompey is in charge of Cleopatra and Ptolemy XIII. Cleopatra ruled Egypt because when she got older her mother and father said since she is the older sibling she must rule Egypt. Unfortunately, she had to rule Egypt with her 11 year old brother and was forced to marry him. Soon she began to enjoy being queen and decided it wasn't so bad until her own colonist started to dislike her. Cleopatra was actually Cleopatra VII, and was the last pharaoh of Egypt. Another very important event that happened in Cleopatra's life was when she gave birth to her four children. She gave birth to her first child with Julius Caesar named Caesarion also named Ptolemy Caesar. . In 48 B.C. Cleopatra was removed from power by Theodotas and Achillas. Later that year, Caesar restores Cleopatra to the Egyptian throne. Later in 40 B.C Cleopatra gave birth to twins children with Mark Antony. The twin children were named Alexander Helios and Cleopatra Selene ll. Four years later, Cleopatra gave birth to another baby boy named Ptolemy Philadelphus. Mark Antony had already had four children with his previous wife Octavia so he already knew how to handle caring for the children. She was forced to flee Egypt and then found Mark Antony and lived with him in modern day Turkey. After Cleopatra met Mark Antony she returned to Egypt with him and Antony later divorced his wife, Octavia, to marry Cleopatra. After Mark Antony committed suicide, so did Cleopatra. The story is that she took an asp to her chest and let the poisonous snake bite her.

Cleopatra is famous for many reasons including being the ruler of Egypt. She was the queen of Egypt. Her people liked her at first when she ruled happily not letting wars go too bad. She didn't let people die when she was queen. Cleopatra liked being queen so bad she promised herself she would be queen until the day she died. Then her daughter, Cleopatra Selene ll, would take over. Cleopatra is also famous for being one of the only female Pharaohs. And by being claimed as Egypt's last ruler

she is also one of the very few who married her young brother as most people go for older siblings. Also, Cleopatra and her daughter, Cleopatra Selene II, kept Egypt from becoming nothing more than a Roman province. While Rome had a huge influence on Egypt thanks to there efforts the culture of Egypt did not get lost in that of Rome.

What was Cleopatra religion?

The Egyptians worshiped their pharaohs, and she tried to portray herself as Isis, who was a queen goddess. Egyptians were monotheistic because they worshipped many gods and goddesses, so that's technically their religion. I don't think there is an actual religion besides monotheism. That's what i think and that's what i found when i researched it...

The term "Mono" means "One". The term you are referring to is Polytheism. "Poly" means multiple. The Egyptians worshipped many different "gods". They had a god of water and so on...

They did worship their Pharoahs also. The Pharoahs would have them pray to the other "gods" like during drought or famine.

There is actually all kinds of religions out there. But everyone puts faith in something wether it be a diety or dieties or money or an object or another human...

Was Queen Cleopatra Greek or Roman?

Cleopatra was a descendant of a Macedonian, Greek general. SHe had Egyptian blood running deeply in her veins however. Ptolemy, her ancsetor, came to Egypt and set up shop and dynasty there. I hope I helped. Incorrect. Cleopatra did not have ANY Egyptian blood running thru her veins. To answer the question: she was Greek. Cleopatra came from a family, the Ptolemaic Dynasty, who were of Greek origins and INBRED with one another, this inbreeding not only suggests they preserved their Hellenic ethnicity and culture but their bloodline would have been preserved as well and since they came from a region in Greece where fair coloring is very common then Cleopatra as ancient depictions clearly show, was fair colored. Her ancient busts and coins show a European light skinned woman; this bust from her time period still has traces of reddish gold that was her hair color.

Yes. She married Ptomley XIII, her ten-year-old brother. This was a Ptolemic tradition, and women could not rule without male co-rulers. (Although she did end up ruling alone).

Was Cleopatra black?

Cleopatra was of Macedonian decent - her ancestors were the Ptolemies who were not only most certainly "white" in appearance, but rather xenophobic an not likely to have bred with those outside of the family.

That being said, her father's mother's origin is unknown so she could have been of African decent, however here is no evidence either way.

Best evidence would be contemporary depictions of Cleopatra. The artists of the time were quite adept at depicting people's of various races, including Hittites and Nubians to the south and they have distinct African features. Cleopatra on the other hand is seen with very distinct Greek features - especially the gorgeous Greek nose.

As this was well before Eurocentricism, and the sculptures, coins and other art were done by the hands of her contemporaries, there's no reason to believe they were altering her appearance to suit their desires for her to be white. They were merely depicting her as she was - white in appearance.

Again, with her father's mother in question, she could have some African blood but without a mummy to test, the question will remain fully answered.

Recently, there was a documentary that came out where archeologists claimed to have found her sister's bones. There's no proof they belong to her sister and the reconstruction they did wasn't even on her skull but rather impressions. This new discovery has not shed more light on the subject, but did make for some tantalizing promos to entice people to watch a TV program.

The previous answer here stated that since Egypt is in Africa, of course she was black. Anyone who has been to Egypt or Morocco knows, these people are not black. And looking at the mummies we do have, it's clear that as far back as 5000 years, they were not black. They were African as they are on the African continent, but not black. No, Cleopatra was Egyptian, more closely related to Arabs and other Middle Easterners.
She was from Egypt, so she was probably black.

What did Julius Cesar and Cleopatra do while they were together that earned them fame?
