The short answer is all clown fish are born male or having a definitive gender of being male. However Clown fish can change their sex to suit their environment such as becoming female when the reproducing female is taken out of the anemone to assure the survival of their species I hope I answered your question.

Why don't clown fish get hurt from sea anemones?
Because they have a protective skin coat that can withstand the electricty from the anemone, they can only take so much though..........Just watch Finding Nemo! lol
