That is a natural part of the healing process but you are still contagious. Up utill the cold sore is completely gone you can still pas it on.

Don't touch the cold sore, if you have to wash your hands after touching it. Don't cover it with mke up, that will only aggravate the sore. Apply some cream like Abreva to the sore regulaly to help speed up the healing process.

I know how bad a cold sore could be but the best way is cleaning it every hour with soup and water on a paper towel and the puss will come out. Also you can use abreva or other. Good luck will your cold sore hope this helps.

it has to run its course but here are a few things to do to avoid the intensity of the cold sore and its symptoms. Don't expose yourself to the sun for long periods of time, get lots of rest, don't pick at it, this will only make it spread. If you do touch it, WASH your hands immediately! Stay away from foods like chocolate and peanut butter. Use a warm tea bag and place it on the cold sore for about 30 minutes. Ice also helps relieve the inflammation. Keep it covered with an ointment whether its medicinal or something like Carmex (OTC). Sleep or rest is very important because your immune system is compromised during this time. You can also buy Abreva (OTC) which works very well on the symptoms or have your doctor prescribe Acyclovir which is an ointment for viral infections. The sooner you start to treat the symptoms, the sooner it will go away (back into it's dormant state). REMEMBER, WASH your hands even after applying these ointments. Stress, weather, long exposure to extreme temperatures either hot or cold, an unhealthy diet are predisposing factors for the virus to come out of its dormant stage.

humid environments mixed with plastic seems to allow a longer survival

the presence of water treating chemicals such as Cl2, seems to allow for much less >0 survival of the virus.

dry conditions, such as on concrete with zero moisture >0

herpes needs very specific conditions to survive outside of the human body but this does not mean it cannot be contracted by non-venereal means.

Who knows ! no im kidden well ive had a cold before and then i went to gymnastics . Its ok it may feel sore for a little while (mine hurt for 3 weeks) but if you just try not to think about it the pain wont be there. Like when i had sore teeth and tonsilitis . Herpes doesn't attack any thing. All it does is cause annoying sores or blisters commonly on the mouth or genitals.

It breaks out when the immune system has been lowered by stress or illnes.

No it will not because blood does not transmit the herpes virus.

If she's already got herpes, or doesn't mind catching it, sure.

Herpes (the disease that causes cold sores) is lesscontagious when there's not an active outbreak (i.e. a cold sore), but it's not completely non-contagious.

I use ice cubes every time I feel one starting to raise it ugly head. As soon as you start to feel the little bump, just hold the ice on the area till it melts. Do this a couple times a day for 2 or 3 days. Works for me every time.
