EVERYTHING is ALWAYS moving. Nothing stands "still"; in fact, there is no such thing as "still".

The Earth is spinning; at the equator, you would be moving at 1,200 miles per hour, without noticing it - because the air is ALSO moving that fast. The Earth is moving, too, at about 66,600 miles per hour in its orbit around the Sun.

The Sun is moving, too, because the entire galaxy is spinning once every 200 million years or so. The Milky Way galaxy is also moving, although we can't be sure exactly which way or how fast.

Comets are orbiting the Sun, speeding up as they get closer to the Sun and slowing down as they move away.

The recession of the early 2000s began in March 2001 and lasted until November 2001. It was mainly triggered by the collapse of the dot-com bubble and exacerbated by the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Aside from the regular short-period and dim comets, not noticed by the average person (such as Comet Encke or Comet Tuttle 1) the next comet we can be reasonably sure of seeing is good old Comet Halley, next scheduled to appear in July of 2061. But there will almost certainly be at least one or two large, bright comets visible on earth before then - we just don't know when they will be. Comets, even large, spectacular comets, are frequently just discovered about 4-9 months before they become a great display in the night sky. None meeting the criteria are in sight right now - but stay tuned.

A planet like Earth makes repeated trips around the sun and can be seen from Earth at regular intervals.

Halley's comet last appeared in 1986 - it's not due back in our part of space until 2062 ! Its orbit through our solar system takes about 76 years.

When the comet approaches the Sun, these materials heat up and form a glowing coma and long tail as they are expelled into space.

As a comet passes near the sun, it may leave behind a trail of debris consisting of dust and rock particles. These debris may form a meteoroid stream along the comet's orbit. Additionally, comets can also shed larger fragments or break apart, leaving behind fragments or new smaller comets in its wake.

Comets get smaller as they approach the Sun because the intense heat causes the ice and volatile compounds on their surface to sublimate, turning directly into gas and escaping into space. This process leads to the comet losing material and eventually shrinking in size over time.

Halley's comet appears blue due to the emissions of vaporized gases, such as carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen, as it interacts with ultraviolet light from the sun. The ionization and excitation of these gases cause them to emit bluish-green light, giving the comet its characteristic blue glow.

The wrong way is a statement of ignorance.. However, we don't know exactly why they would face away from the presumed direction (that being away from itself, or away from the sun) except to assume some other force in space is helping make this so. So, one theory is there is a sort of tidal energy in space and not just a bunch of weak nothing. Perhaps this force is not as potent as gamma rays, as obvious, but perhaps there is enough of it, and enough of where it came from, that it's a very big deal. My suspicion is that even fluctuations in solar activity, jupiter, and our own plate tectonics, could be influenced by the same things which makes the comet tail face the 'wrong way'.

John Hancock was last seen with Samuel Adams on March 5, 1770, in Boston during the Boston Massacre. Hancock and Adams were leading figures in the American revolutionary movement at the time.
