Continents and Regions

Antarctica is the only continent that is not connected to another continent. It is surrounded by the Southern Ocean and separated from the nearest landmass, South America, by the Drake Passage.

The Appalachian Highlands extend from eastern Canada to central Alabama. The entire system is 2,000 miles long. (The Appalachian Mountains are the region's higher and rougher areas.) Geographically, the Appalachians are complex. Some areas are covered by rocky deposits and glacial lakes; others have deep valleys with rough terrain; others have rapids and small waterfalls.

ISIS operates in multiple regions across the Middle East and North Africa, primarily in Iraq and Syria. However, they have also had some presence in other countries in the region.

The country that refers to Santa Claus as "Papa Noel" is Mexico, which is located in North America. The term "Papa Noel" translates to "Father Christmas" in English.

Every continent has some type of desert. North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia have hot dry deserts. Both polar continents have polar deserts.

Pangaea separated into Laurasia, which became North America and Eurasia, and Gondwana, which became South America, Africa, Antarctica, Australia, and the Indian subcontinent.

Most people tend to live in urban areas, which are generally located near coastlines or major bodies of water for reasons of accessibility and economic opportunities. In the middle of continents, population density is typically lower due to factors such as geography, climate, and limited resources.

Continents are landmasses and by definition have some form of water surrounding them. There are no continents without any water around them.

Half of Earth is covered by water, specifically oceans and seas. Land, including continents and islands, makes up the other half. Grass is a type of vegetation that covers only a small portion of the Earth's surface.

The east coast of South America and the west coast of Africa appear to match up like puzzle pieces. This phenomenon is known as the "Atlantic Puzzle" and is evidence of the theory of continental drift.

Australia is often referred to as the island continent. While it is not entirely made up of islands, it is the world's largest island as well as the smallest continent.

The world map is divided into seven continents: Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, North America, Australia (Oceania), and South America. Each continent is typically represented as a distinct landmass on the map.

Australia has moved the farthest from Pangaea to its present day location. It was once part of the supercontinent Gondwana before breaking off and moving to its current location.

The seasonal reversal of wind direction associated with large continents is called a monsoon. This phenomenon is characterized by the shift in prevailing wind patterns, bringing heavy rainfall during specific times of the year.

Pangaea was all the continents.

Gondwanaland (Gondwana) was made of Antarctica, Australia, South America and Africa.

Laurasia was made of North America, Europe and Asia.

The largest region in Washington state is the Cascade Range, which runs from north to south along the western side of the state. This region is known for its mountain peaks, forests, and volcanic activity, including Mount Rainier and Mount St. Helens.

Antarctica and Australia are the two continents located completely in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Mekong River flows through Southeast Asia, covering six countries: China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. It is approximately 4,350 kilometers (2,703 miles) long.

The Arabian Sea is a region of the northwestern part of the Indian Ocean, bordered by the Arabian Peninsula to the west, the Indian subcontinent to the east, and the Horn of Africa to the south. It is not located on any specific continent as it is part of the larger Indian Ocean.

South America and Africa have coastlines that fit together like puzzle pieces, providing evidence of the continental drift theory. Another example is North America and Europe, particularly the eastern coast of North America and the western coast of Europe, which also show signs of fitting together.

Wagga Wagga is a city located in New South Wales, Australia, which is a country in the continent of Australia.

European countries had colonies on almost every continent, with the largest number in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. The colonization efforts of countries such as Great Britain, France, Spain, and Portugal shaped the history and development of many regions across the globe.

There is only one continent wholly contained between the Equator and the South Pole: Antarctica. South of the Equator, you'll find parts of South America, Africa and parts of Ociana, which includes Australia.

The supercontinent cycle involves the repeated formation and breakup of supercontinents over geological time. This cycle is driven by plate tectonics, where continents drift and collide to form supercontinents, which eventually break apart due to tectonic forces. Examples of supercontinents in Earth's history include Rodinia and Pangaea.
