How do you get a cosmetology license in Italy?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I have been in the Cosmetology field for over 25 years, and have worked all around the world. There are no international cosmetology licenses. Each country has it's own specific requirement concerning the field of cosmetology, and when we look at just the US alone, there is not even a national License. Each state has it's own different criteria that has to be met for a license. Then there are countries like where I am now that have no license for Cosmetologist.

My best suggestion is to figure out where you want to work in the industry, and contact that area's governing entity for Cosmetologist and see what the requirements are..

What do you call a cosmetologist?

Yes, all States require barbers, cosmetologists, and other personal appearance workers to be licensed, with the exceptions of shampooers and makeup artists. Qualifications for a license vary by State, but generally a person must have a high school diploma or GED, be at least 16 years old, and have graduated from a State-licensed barber or cosmetology school. After graduating from a State approved training program, students take a State licensing examination. The exam consists of a written test and, in some cases, a practical test of styling skills or an oral examination. In many States, cosmetology training may be credited toward a barbering license, and vice versa, and a few States combine the two licenses. Most States require separate licensing examinations for manicurists, pedicurists, and skin care specialists.

Cosmetic laser surgery is not an invasive as more serious cosmetic procedures so usually this can be part of astetician training but in some states or provinces you may need a nursing background in which to register. I would check with you local cosmetic surgery school to see the length of this training but I don't believe it is all that long.

"According to both NACCAS and the United States Department of Labor, the average cosmetolgoy salary range for salon professionals can average up to a $50,000 annual cosmetology salary, but this varies since each employer charges tips and bonuses slightly differently. The 2003 NACCAS Job Demand Survey reveals that cosmetology careers and cosmetology salary ranges have dramatically increased their earning power today with zero unemployment due to the severe shortage of licensed salon professionals. Some of the main factors that determine cosmetology salaries and cosmetology salary ranges include the size and location of the salon, hours worked, the tipping habits of clients, and competition from other salons and shops. The cosmetologist's ability to bring in and maintain regular clients is a factor determining many cosmetologists salaries and cosmetology salary ranges. According to The United States Department of Labor many cosmetologists, and other personal appearance workers receive commissions based on the price of the service, or they earn a salary based on hours worked. How do you know if cosmetology is right for you?

One thing you can do is shadow someone who is already doing what you think you might want to do. Typically, individuals are very open about their careers. If you have someone you go to, ask her/him if you can stay with them for a day or two so you can find out the daily routine. Ask them questions about how they feel about their work. However, I would try to talk to more than just one. This because you may get a slanted view. In this way you can acquire valuable information.

What are the skills needed for cosmetology?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Whatever state you live in you will have to attend a credited cosmetology school and attend, pass and get a certificate. What personal skills you need are personality, ability to work closely with people, an eye for color and be able to apply makeup to fit a persons face and the time of day. This is almost like an extension of an artist, your canvas is a real live person. You have to know how to cut hair, dye hair, do makeup, everything dealing with nails, facials, and got to have patience when people don't like the cut. You have to be able to stay on your feet on day too. Cosmotology is a fun job you just need to have skills.

What is the importance in cosmetology?

Importance of Cosmetology Education:

A cosmetologist is required to be licensed and qualifications for a license vary by state. Generally, a graduate from a state-licensed cosmetology school should pass a physical examination. The completion of an apprenticeship does at times substitute for graduation from a school, but a license is awarded only on passing a written test and demonstrating the ability to perform basic cosmetology services. A cosmetologist is educated on cosmetology sanitation practices and ethical practices. These are governed by the Board of Cosmetology. There are many private institutions that offer cosmetology education to high school students. Most cosmetologists are paid either by commission, a monthly fee or an hourly wage. Tips are another source of income. Skilled cosmetologists make a considerable portion of their income from tips.

If you have 4000 worked salon hours in the state of MN, you can go online.

This will give you all of the rest of the information you need. Otherwise, if you do not have 4000 worked hours in the state of MN, you can find a salon in Wisconsin that offers the apprenticeship program and they will be able to help you obtain your Wisconsin license that way.
