What are the symptoms of the new coronavirus (COVID-19)?

User Avatar

Asked by Sharmiroy

Here are some of the main symptoms I have read about for the Coronavirus pandemic:

• Breathing problems – mucus generated from the virus can flood the lungs, which causes breathing difficulties and in some cases pneumonia, which is one of the main reasons for fatalities

• Chest pain – this is often because of the coughing, which can even result in cracked/broken ribs

• Fever – the vast majority (but not all) COVID-19 sufferers struggle with a high temperature/fever. This is best checked with a thermometer

• Muscle aches and pains – people describe “aching all over” and having muscle pain like they would associate with the flu

• Sore throat – as with most common colds the virus attacks the body through the throat and therefore sore throats are a very common symptom

• Tiredness – people with the virus feel very tired and lethargic. Some can still work from home, but many need lots of rest. Many complain about going to bed for rest but not being able to sleep

There are lots of resources available on this topic, I found this infographic, particularly useful. Also, this Quora thread is really good as answers are by people who have had the Coronavirus.

Which mask should I buy for protection against the Coronavirus in India?

User Avatar

Asked by Fredrick Jerde

The N95 cover is exceptionally efficient because it channels air pollutants without any problems. While 95% of air toxins can be easily isolated through these veils as indicated by experts, people suffering from respiratory illnesses should not use these covers because they need to face the real consequences. The N95 screen here and there makes it hard to relax. Kids should not use the N95 veil. These covers do not provide complete protection against coronaviruses. You may find it hard to take the N95 cover and full protection is not guaranteed in the same way.

My strongest suggestion is to use the covers carefully as they are sufficient to repel 100% of the coronavirus toxins. They can do a lot without this spread of infection. The wearers in these covers have no breathing difficulties. Off-chance that it fits snugly for the face, the careful cover protects you from coronavirus.

Perhaps N95 can protect you from coronavirus but experts don't know about it because they can cause shortness of breath.

With the rapid development of new coronaviruses, many countries have fallen into a crisis of closure, which has seriously affected our normal lives.

We know that the main route of transmission of this virus is droplets of the respiratory tract, so everyone wearing a mask is a very effective protection method, but some unscrupulous businessmen have pushed up prices and sold an ordinary mask to US $ 20, which made many people unable to burden.

We have cooperated with a medical institution to purchase a large number of low-cost KF94 masks. If you need to purchase a large number of masks, please contact us to ensure that you will get masks at a reasonable price.

User Avatar

Asked by Yanura Zyouka

Unfortunately, not yet.

Dr. Steven Quay, the CEO of Atossa Therapeutics Inc. has suggested that by simply spraying a salt solution on the outside of the mask the night before you're going to wear it the next day, letting it dry can itself improve the stopping of the virus up to a thousand-fold.

You can read more about it on Dr. Steven Quay website.

Can animals get covid-19?

User Avatar

Asked by Kayara Hastie Kragh

Zoonotic diseases, which pass from animals to humans are Coronaviruses; as of SARS, MERS and now COVID-19 all come from the same family of viruses. SARS & MERS have now weakened to the point where they are only part of the seasonal common cold. Once COVID-19 is finished taken it's course it will weaken to the point where it will no longer be a problem. But until then we all have to wait out the worst of it. In the meantime we have to avoid crowded places, keep our hands clean and wear a mask while out.

What is Coronavirus?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The coronaviruses are a family of viruses whose symptoms can range from the common cold to something more serious and potentially lethal. A novel coronavirus is currently spreading across the planet, affecting the daily lives of many.

In January 2020, an outbreak of a new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) occurred in Wuhan, China. It causes a disease called COVID-19, whose symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. It can lead to death, particularly for the elderly and people with serious chronic medical conditions. There are currently no vaccines or antiviral treatments available.

More than 150 countries and territories, including the United States, have confirmed cases of the infection since the initial outbreak, and on March 11, the World Health Organization declared it a pandemic.

How can we prevent coronavirus?

User Avatar

Asked by Paxton Brown

According to the CDC, “the best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus.” Some steps you can take to limit your exposure to the virus:

  • Regularly wash your hands for 20 seconds or use a hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol. Pay attention to hand hygiene, especially when you’ve been in a public place and after coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose.
  • Practice social distancing by increasing the space between you and other people. That means staying home as much as you can, especially if you feel sick.
  • Disinfect frequently touched surfaces (like keyboards, doorknobs, and light switches) every day.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with the inside of your elbow or a tissue. Throw the tissue away immediately and wash your hands.
  • Wear a facemask only if you are sick or are caring for someone who’s sick and can’t wear a facemask.

How many deaths have been caused by wuhan Coronavirus?

User Avatar

Asked by Nella Greenfelder

This is the subject of much debate. It sounds simpler than it is as the formula is the number of deaths / number of cases. The problem is that nobody knows the number of cases.

There are already more than likely tens of thousands of people walking around who had Coronavirus and didn’t even know it or suspected they had it but weren’t included in the official numbers.

Most estimates seem to be a 2%+ mortality rate for known cases, with an actual mortality rate of between 0.8% to 1% for mortality for all cases (including those not reported). The Guardian Newspaper reports wildly varying stats by country – Italy 9%, UK 4.6% and Germany a really low 0.3%. Germany’s higher testing rate is given as a reason for the lower mortality rate for what is the same disease.

How long are you contagious with Coronavirus?

User Avatar

Asked by Genoveva Quitzon

Life of Cold Virus While In the AirIt is important to understand that viruses don't actually live. They are simply DNA or RNA material encased within a protein complex (a virion). They cause damage when they come in contact with a host's cells and are able to attach and take them over to replicate themselves using the host's energy and materials. A more appropriate question might be how long can a virus stay airborne? This can be answered if the size of the specific viral organism is known and how much weight it has to affect the ability of the respiratory droplet containing it to stay afloat on air currents produced by the cough or sneeze. Usually, especially for cold and flu viruses, this is only a matter of seconds and for a diameter of six feet from the person who coughs or sneezes and produces the respiratory droplets, otherwise, they fall from the air to land on surfaces in that approximate 6 foot area.

They can remain active (e.g., able to infect someone) for longer on the surfaces and on objects that receive the droplets as they fall from the air. Often, for flu and cold viruses, this is around 48 hours, but does vary as noted above according to the size of the individual virions. See the related questions below for more details.

With the MD stay at home order: Can traveling to and from my boyfriend’s house be considered essential?

User Avatar

Asked by Tamera Bell

Whether traveling to and from your boyfriend's house is considered essential depends on a few factors. Generally, travel for essential activities such as obtaining food and healthcare is permitted. Additionally, travel for outdoor activity, essential work, and religious services is permitted. Whether travel to visit your boyfriend could be considered essential would likely depend on the current circumstances and if you are able to follow social distancing guidelines. If you are unable to social distance while visiting, or if it is not necessary to visit, it is not recommended.

For instance, if you are able to communicate with your boyfriend while staying at home, it is recommended that you do not travel to his house. If you do need to travel, it is important to practice social distancing and wear a face covering while doing so. Additionally, it is important to consider the current COVID-19 activity in the area, as it may be necessary to limit travel to essential activities only.

To summarize, traveling to and from your boyfriend's house during the Maryland stay at home order may be considered essential depending on your circumstances. However, it is important to practice social distancing and wear a face covering if you do travel, and to also consider the current COVID-19 activity in the area. It is best to communicate with your boyfriend while staying at home if possible.
