I have been aging Felt Hats for Reenactments and movies for many years. The number one way is fire place ash and ladies makeup. Use Olive Oil around the brim and then powder in the ash and makeup to get the look you want . It You can go for duty or sweat stains. Take your time and add more oil and makeup until you get the look you want. You can use a high heat blower to dry out the hat and brim ribbon so the look old and take sand paper to areas even cut holes in the hat. Have fun if you get to much take some Naptha on a rag and clean it up a little.

Yes. Beavers are considered small game. They are killed as humanely as possible. You should wear what makes you comfortable. If wearing the hat hurts your dignity so much, then wear it outside of school/work, where you will be less likely to be made fun of.
