Delta Force and SEAL Team Six are both considered the elite of the elite, and one isn't known as being harder to get into than the other. SEAL Team Six is officially known as the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group.

Tributaries form through the erosion and transportation of sediment from higher elevations by flowing water. A teams being the 12-man teams of Green Berets that actually do all or most of the on the ground fighting, teaching, etc. And the B and C teams being command and support elements.

So when Beckwith came up with the idea for the new specialized Counter-terrorist unit he wanted to create, being that it was going to be a "Special Force", it probably just made the most sense for him and the high-ups in the army organizationally to just add it to the rungs of the already established Special Forces and call it "SFOD-Delta".

Generally most armed forces and police units do not use paintball gear for training (as they use Simunition, a type of frangible projectile similar in concept to paintballs but are designed to be used in real-world firearms). However in some cases there are instances the US Army is shown in some documentaries to have been using Tippmann's "US Army" branded paintball markers.

Neither sees more "action" than the other. The unit that is assigned to a specific mission depends on a variety of things. For example, if the mission takes place on water, then DevGru is most likely to be sent. If it takes place on land, Delta or DevGru could be sent. The availability of a unit will also play a factor. When the bin Laden raid occured, DevGru's Red Squadron had just finished a rotation in Afghanistan and could be rerouted for a final operation without creating a lot of unwanted attention. The capture of Saddam Hussein involved a Delta team, a platoon from the 75th Ranger Regiment, and soldiers from the 4th Infantry Division.

The "m16" at Delta force is the Tippmann Alpha Black. It is a very cheap, reliable and customisable gun. It is a great choice for beginning markers.

I would say yes, the Delta Force is a close American counterpart to the British SAS, and perhaps inspired to a large degree by the SAS.

American Delta force was betterd by S.A.S int he 60's and the S.A.S still help train Delta and Navy seals today.

Almost 100% of the ST6 shooters came from the SEAL Teams whilst Delta is comprised of personnel from the Ranger Regiment, Special Forces, the conventional Army, as well as even members of other military branches (there have even been ST6 members who have vetted for Delta over the years), while For Delta, the majority come from the 75th and SF; two VERY distinct units with completely different missions and cultures.

Colonel Charlie.A Beckwith saw the need for a US version of the SAS. He served in Vietnam as a Green Beret and then created a sepreate unit apart of the US Army SF called `Project Delta`. After Vietnam Beckwith kept pushing US Army officials to create a unit and finally after many years of hardwork Beckwith finally got the go ahead and in 1977 1st SFOD-D(Special Forces Operational Detachement- Delta) or better known as Delta Force was created.

Yes, Delta is a real counter-terrorism unit within the US Army and JSOC. Most of the unit's details are classified, but twice a year, they perform Army-wide recruiting. They change official names every few years in order to keep foreign intelligence agencies guessing. Their last known names were Army Compartmented Element, or ACE, and Combat Applications Group, or CAG. Their most recent known operations were the rescue of Jessica Lynch and the death of al-Zarqawi.
