Dog Behavior

Dogs are unable to talk just like we do, but we can still understand their feelings by observing their behavior and body language. It is compulsory that an owner is aware of his dog's body language, as it will not only strengthen their bond, but will also prevent tragic results where the owner is forced to abandon his dog due to behavior problems. In this category, there are questions relating to the different body languages of dogs, their behavior, etc.

Why does one male dog lick other male dogs private parts?

What are two situations you might need to introduce new dogs to each other?

If you have a male dog and your bringing another male dog dont introduce them on your yard. Your first male will try to defend his territory and could end up getting in a fight with the other one. Introduce them somewhere else so they are not on either ones territory, if you do this it is less likely they will be aggressive toward each other. If you are bringing a little puppy than your other male dog wont see the puppy as a threat. It worked with my dogs.

How can I get my neighbor to confine her dog?

The way to get your neighbor to keep her Doberman Pincher in her yard is to hand her the vet bills! Yes, you have every legal right to do so. Her dog came onto YOUR property. This dog can do some great damage and you can bet if your Pitbull decides to take on this Doberman and does damage your neighbor will charge you for vet bills. Also call the ASPCA and report it and do it the next time her dog comes into the yard. This Doberman Pincher is asking for trouble! I once had a problem like this before, except is was between my cat and my neighbor's German Shephard. You see, my cat was walking around in my backyard, and the neighbor's dog kept looking through the various holes in the fence. One day, when I happened to be outside, Bear, the German Shephard, busted through the fence after my cat. Anyway, to get to the point, after the first try, he kept coming back after my cat. So eventually, I called animal patrol to see if they could help with the problem. The woman who came out to help told me that the reason that Bear keeps breaking through the patched up fence is not only that he is chasing our cat, but also that because he has actually been in our yard and urinated, the know thinks that our yard is part of HIS territory. So anyway, to try to help, mabye you have the same kind of problem. Mabye this Doberman thinks of your yard as HER yard, even if there are 2 other dogs occupying "her new territory". Mabye if they get her fixed it would help a little. Hope I helped!!! =) ~Jessica~

How do you make your dog not scared of going on walks?

You can't make a dog stop being scared. What you can do is help the dog learn to be more comfortable around things that are scary to her/him. You do this by desensitizing and counter conditioning the dog around the things (triggers) that bother it. You need to keep the dog below or near its threshold for its tolerance of its triggers. It's a slow process and in some cases a dog can never become totally comfortable around things that scare it.

What does it mean if a dog humps you?

Sorry but dogs do not kiss you. In the wild it would be natural for pups to greet and lick at their parents faces, this encourages the parents to regurgitate food, so you see it is in their instincts.

Which dogs are the most compatible with cats?

Whether pure bred or a cat with several breeds it depends on the genes and the cats disposition. If you get the cat as a kitten by constantly loving and holding it you can change their ways if they are a wild kitten. I had a barn kitten given to me who was very frightened, but I would always pick her up and cuddle her, then let her down when she wanted (never forced her by holding her back in my arms) and eventually I was able to carry her around in my arms like a baby. She turned out to be one of the most loving cats I ever owned. I also have two dogs and all 3 get along. It just takes love and patience.

Can you die if your dog licks your vagina?

Nitrites, which are found in saliva, break down into nitric acid when exposed to skin. Nitric acid helps protect against bacterial infections. Histatins, a type of simple protein known to ward off infection, are found in saliva. Some histatins also help the re-growth of skin. But you could send me a video of it to be sure.😉

Will fixing your dog stop from marking territory?

Neutering a male dog can reduce or eliminate the behavior of marking territory by decreasing hormone-driven tendencies. It's important to address marking behavior early and consistently with training to reinforce good habits and discourage marking. Consulting a veterinarian or professional trainer for guidance on behavior modification techniques can also help in addressing this issue.

Does a dog know when her puppy dies?

When pets experience a sudden change, it upsets the balance in their lives, just as it does in ours. The loss of another dog (whether it's a "sister" dog in the house, or the dog next door who moves away) or of a beloved human (your son or daughter who has grown and left home) can be a large emotional hurdle for a dog.

Sometimes the other dog or dogs in the household grieve so deeply that they stop eating, jeopardizing their own health. This is more likely to happen if the dogs had never been separated. If any of your dogs react to a loss so strongly they become ill, take them to the vet. The pack has undergone a major transition, and it will take some time to adjust.

Dog is chewing on his paw a lot help please?

If your dog is chewing on his paw a lot, it could be a sign of an underlying issue such as irritation, injury, or allergies. Check the paw for any signs of cuts, redness, swelling, or foreign objects. If you cannot identify the issue or if the chewing persists, it's best to consult with a veterinarian for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

How do you stop a dog from chewing on things?

Make it unpleasant for the dog - either by spraying a foul-tasting gear over your stuff, or by squirting the dog with a water pistol when you see him starting to chew something. It he is a young dog, he is still developing his teeth and needs to chew, so buy him something he can chew on, like a chew-toy, and encourage him to use that instead of your household possessions. A short-term solution is to see a vet or pet-store and get a muzzle though in the long term it would be better to train your dog properly and put up with a few chewed-on items.
