What do you feed mallard ducks?

We have a very small man made pond in our yard and recently a pair of mallard ducks began to hang around. They stay in my yard most of the day and fly away at night. I am not sure what to feed them. I purchase duck food at the pet store but they seem to be just eating the corn out of it and leaving the other seed behind. I hardly think that corn is enough for them. They do seem to be eating something in the stream leading to the pond. Maybe snails? I am not sure. I would like to make sure they are well fed because we want to put our goldfish back into the pond for the summer. OUr goldfish are large but not huge and I don't want them becoming breakfast after all I have had the parents for 2 years now and their babies were born last summer. Can anyone tell me what to put out so Momma and Poppa Duck are not hungry??

Duck potato is an emersed plant. It's large leaves and conspicuous flowers make it easy to find in the wild. It grows commonly in swamps, ditches, lakes, and stream margins.

Duck potato gets its name from its potato-like, underground corms that sometimes form. Duck potato has large, firm, lance-shaped leaves, which are typically four inches wide and up to two feet long. The leaf bases taper to the stem. The leaves grow as a fan-like rosette from underground rhizomes. Duck potato flowers are typical sagittaria flowers: showy and white, with three petals. Flowers are extended on thick stalks that are often a foot or more above the leaves.

How long does it take for a duck to come out of the egg?

It can take up to 24 hours for them to completely hatch out of their eggs. What ever you do don't help them. God has this as part of his plan, you see this is the last part for their lungs to develope. They will first make a tiny hole and rest, make a bigger hole and rest some more, this will the first time that they are using their little lungs and it wears them out. Very rarely will it take 24 hours to hatch, after that you can help them alittle, just be careful. Most of the time they will fall out of the end of the shell that they have been working on.

Is it possible that if a mother dove leaves her eggs for one day can they still hatch?

They won't if they go cold, which will likely happen if she leaves the nest, unless the eggs are artificially incubated, instead of the mothers heat, the growing chicks inside will die.

What should I do when my new born chick hasn't fully dried her feathers and the incubator keeps changing its temperature Should I move her out of the incubator?

This happened for some chicks I'd been hatching - also one of them was making VERY determined efforts to drown itself in the water tray (being used to increase humidity for the hatch)! So I removed the chicks to a brooder (just a cardboard box with wood shavings and a heat lamp) which I'd already run up to about 95 degF (35 degC) below the heat lamp. The important thing is to avoid cold draughts either while being transferred or when in place in the brooder. One benefit is that they'll dry off quicker in the brooder as it will be lower humidity (or should be!) than the incubator.
