Eris is a large dwarf planet beyond Neptune's orbit. From the launch date it would probably be the best part of 15-30 years, depending on the position of Eris. The New Horizons space probe was launched in January 2006 to investigate Pluto, which is a similar distance (29.7 - 49.3 AU). It should get to Pluto by the middle of 2015, even with an original speed of 36400 mph, and a gravitational boost from Jupiter.
Eris' orbit is fairly eccentric, so at its closest it will be 37.7 AU (earth to sun distances - Astronomical Units). At its furthest it is 97.5AU.
Mercury grey
Venus Yellow
Earth blue green
Mars Red
Jupiter red brown white yellow ornage banned
Saturn mainly shades of yellow and orange and white
Neptune blue
Uranus blue
The inner rocky planets are; Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. They are also known as the terrestrial planets. the outer planets are; Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune - known as the gas giants.
Eris is at the edge of the solar system at the inward edge of the Oort Cloud.
At aphelion (its furthest distance from the sun) it is 97.65 AU and at perihelion (its closest distance to the sun) it is 37.38 AU. (An AU is the distance from Earth to the Sun, roughly 90 million miles or 150 million kilometers.) This means that Eris' orbit is incredibly erratic. In fact, Eris perihelion is closer to the sun than Pluto aphelion (which 48.87 AU) but does not come close to Neptune (which has an aphelion of 30.44 AU).
Yes. Eris has one known moon called Dysnomia.
All orbits are elliptical.
Some orbits, like Earth's, are almost circular without much eccentricity in the orbit. The orbit of Eris is HIGHLY eccentric, with a perihelion of 38 AU and aphelion of 98 AU. The orbital period is 557 years.
No, Eris is too cold to have any water. It does have ice though.
traces of methane, hydrogen and helium atoms like most other planets
it is the largest dwarf planet in our solar system (unless you come from anothe solar system that is and if u do GET OFF THE INTERNET)

no because Eris is too cold for life to exist. It's too far from the sun and the planet doesn't have an atmosphere like earth does. Plus water would not stay in liquid form because it will freeze solid and Eris's surface is cold so no, it's impossible for life to exist on Eris because it's extremely cold.
Venus, Mars, Neptune, Jupiter, Pluto (dwarf), Mercury, Sun (star), and Moon (moon). These were all the Roman equivalents for Greek gods. For example Hades' Roman name was Pluto. Additional answer: The planets Uranus and Saturn(us) also belong to this gang. In addition the moons of the planets have names from mythology.
See what is Eris made of.
(carbond dioxide, ammonia, water ice, dirtlike material)
atmosphere: methane and nitrogen
Eris is located in the Kuiper belt [See related question] beyond the orbit of Neptune.
No. Eris is much to far away to send astronauts there. We have not even sent any probes there. The only object astronauts have visited is the moon, which is much closer to Earth than any other object in space.
The Revolution of Eris is about 8 hours per day. FYI, I mean "day" as in one complete revolution. As in "day" and "night" on Eris.
There are millions, possibly billions, of planets in the Milky Way. An exact number will never be known.
Its orbital period is 4.60 years; since that is not an exact multiple of the Earth year, the closest approach is not at the same date every year. You can check astronomical sites for "opposition of Ceres"; the closest approach is usually close to the opposition. For example, in 2016, Ceres was in opposition on 21 October.
It is EXACTLY 250 degrese faren hight so it would be imposible for a person to live on it because u would die( burn to death) right when u step fott on it so it wouldint be a good place to live and dont mistake it for Earth if u are an astronot bc it look very simalure to Earth
and this just in Lillyin Upchearch
