The name comes from an Anglo-Saxon goddess namedEostre. This was the goddess of spring.

The last time was in the year 2000. The only reason I am sure of this is because my daughter was born on April 23, 1998--and when she turned 2, we celebrated Easter along with her birthday and gave her a special wooden egg commemorating this joint special occasion.
