Blackbeard's appearance was very intimidating. He usually wore a long, black coat, with pistols in his belt. He would also put slow-burning fuses into his beard and hair and light them on fire. It would look like he was going to blow up.

He was married to Mary Ormond who was born in 1702 and previously married to Charles Eden, Royal Governor of North Carolina. Blackbeard eventually offered Mary up to his crew aboard to Queen Anne's Revenge to do with what they wanted. Her fate after that is unknown.

Yes he did have parents. Blackbeard's real name was Edward Teach or Thatch around 1680. Not much is known about his family life prior to his becoming Blackbeard. His parents names are not recorded.

After receiving a royal pardon in June, 1718, Blackbeard (Edward Teach, 1680-1718) was suspected of continued piracy around the Carolinas. In November, the governor of Virginia sent two armed sloops, Jane and Ranger, to arrest Teach. The ships were blasted by the guns of Teach's ship Adventure, but when his crews boarded, they were overwhelmed and Teach was killed. He was decapitated and his head placed on the bowsprit of the Jane (his identification being required to collect the reward offered for his capture).

Edward Teach was better known as Blackbeard. He was a notorious English pirate in the Caribbean Sea and western Atlantic during the early 18th century. His best known vessel was the Queen Anne's Revenge, which is believed to have run aground near Beaufort Inlet in the Inner Banks of North Carolina in 1718.

He isn't buried. He was killed at sea during a battle with Lieutenant Robert Maynard who was sent after Blackbeard by the governor of Virginia. His body was decapitated and the body was thrown overboard. The head was tied to the bowsprit when Maynards crew headed back to shore. Legend has it that the headless body of Blackbeard swam around the ship three times before it sank.

Edward Teach, more commonly known as Blackbeard, was born around 1680 in Bristol. He began his saling life aboard a British ship in the Caribbean during war; when Britain withdrew, he turned to piracy. He joined the crew of one Benjamin Hornigold, who was overthrown by crew who later elected Blackbeard captain. In battle, Teach often wore multiple fuses and burning material in his hair and beard, and was armed was many pistols, knives and swords; he is reputed to have filled a hold with brimstone and lighting it in an effort to "make [their] own hell for the crew" before joining them in it; there is a legend that he forced his fourteenth wife, a teenager, to be gangraped by several crewmembers - there is no evidence that this is true, nor that he had more than the one wife. However, despite his appearance and fearsome reputation he is not known to have killed anyone and was actually quite considerate of his hostages and prisoners compared to some pirates of the time. He is most famous for the blockade of Charleston SC, USA. With his flagship the Queen Anne's Revenge and three smaller ships he plundered some merchant ships in the harbour; no other ships could enter or leave the harbour without risking capture. Among those on the captured vessels were a group of prominent citizens of the town, who were held for the ransom of (strangely for a pirate) a chest of medicines. the deputation sent to collect the ransom took time to party in town and Teach almost killed the hostages, but received the ransom and released the unclothed but unharmed prisoners. The small squadron then escaped. He soon after ran most of his command aground (whether deliberately or not is debated), salvaged the treasure from those ships, marooned much of the crew and sailed on to Bath NC, USA to enjoy himself. Here he accepted a pardon under the Royal Act of Grace and left to Ocracroke Inlet, probably to retire. The nearby Governor of Virginia was concerned that such a notorious pirate was so close, and sent a Lieutenant Maynard with two small sloops and 55 men (larger ships would not have been useful in the shallow coastal waters). He discovered Teach in an inlet of Ocracroke Island on the night of November 21 1718, and decided to wait until morning. Teach made a break and was chased before the two pursuers ran aground; the two captains had a shouting match, although the exact words are disputed. The sloops managed to free themselves and rowed towards Teach's vessel (which couldn't move away for lack of wind). Midshipman Hyde, captain of the sloop Jane, and 6 other men were killed with 10 injured - leaving a fighting crew of only 9. The ship was then no help in the following battle. The other sloop, the Ranger, was able to damage the Adventurer's (Teach's ship) rigging and drive it ashore. Maynard ordered most of the 30-strong crew into the holds; Teach saw almost empty decks and boarded with only 10 men of his own, leading with home-made smoke grenades which obscured the Ranger crew's vision of the attacking force. the rest of Maynard's crew emerged and the battle was begun.
