Both feminism and Functionalism operate on a macro approach i.e. they look at the big picture when investigating society.

They both come under the structuralist approach i.e. they view society as more important than the individial

They both also argue that education prepares pupils for their position in an unequal society

There are several reasons that feminism became a civil rights movement within the United States. The main reason was that women in the 1960s were tired of being treated as less than men in society. Another cause was the 1963 book, 'The Feminine Mystique' by Betty Friedan, which talked about the fact that many women were unhappy being housewives and homemakers.

More men are staying home to do housework and raise children. Which in my opinion is unhealthy. Men need a sense of accomplishment, which housework and children don't give to them. Not to mention, the tension between man and wife is heightened when the man stays at home. A working woman will have less interest in her man after a long days work. Men generally need their wives to be romantically interested in them, or they start to feel less like a man. Along with several other stress factors. Women, in general, are more patient with children, and have a greater interest in making a house into a home. Therefore, stressful situations, outside of home life, make a harder impact on women. Men on the other hand are generally less patient with children, and don't really care about what the house looks like, as long as there is a roof over their family's head. On the flip side, men are better suited to handle stress at work, as it doesn't effect them emotionally. My wife has told me numerous times that she would love to quit her job and stay home with the kids.

I myself am a feminist and what feminists believe is that all sexes are equal. I believe that women can be just as strong or powerful as men when they put their minds to it and that women aren't made to seduce men. Feminists are strongly against playboy and other sexual magazines with women on them. Feminists dont think that we are better than men we believe in equality and balance. GO FEMINISM! people say we dont need feminists when 1 in 4 women are raped and 86 out of 100 politicians are men and there hasnt been a female president yet. we need feminists
