Yes, foxes do live in Texas. We are feeding a mother fox right now in College Station. We live south of town and have wooded areas around our house. It appears to be a gray fox and probably is here in our subdivision looking for food. I've been feeding it chicken, etc. from our leftovers and she/he seems to be eating it.
I have been visited by a fox in in Arlington, Texas. On 1/25/2011, a young, sweet-faced red fox showed up on my backyard porch, crunching on the chicken I left out for the other critters. 2/1 and it showed up again. While it leaves when I turn on the outside light, both times it has first looked at me before walking away. I think I've made a meal guest. I live in an area with a lot of oak trees, and we're populated with all kinds of wild animals: possums, racoons, owls, snakes, ferrel cats, squirrels and other rodents, but this is the first time I've seen a fox. Where do all these wild animals stay in the daytime?
What are the fox's predators or enemies?
The fox has a primary predator is man, who hunts and traps it, as well as drives it off or strips it of habitat. In the wild, bobcats, lynxes, panthers, and wolves will take down a fox if they are able, and the bear or wolverine will kill a fox if it can, though the fox is generally too quick and wily. The young of the fox are vulnerable to larger birds of prey where the adults are not such easy marks and are generally avoided.
In general, any larger predator will tackle any fox that is found within its range. That's the general rule of thumb - the larger predator will prey on a smaller predator if the opportunity presents itself. Bears, larger canines, or any large cat can be trouble for a fox, as can any large bird of prey.
Owls are one of the predators that eat these foxes.

What do you call male and female and baby foxes?
The term 'bear' describes either male or female bears. Infant bears, male or female, are called 'cubs'.
Other terms used in English to indicate the sex of an adult bear are 'boar' (male) or 'sow' (female), as well as 'he-bear' or 'she-bear' (cubs are also sometimes referred to as 'he-cubs' or 'she-cubs').
A group of bears can be referred to as a 'sleuth' or 'sloth'.
The adjective, 'ursine' applies to either sex of bear; the word can be traced back to Latin, ursus, meaning 'a bear'. 'A koala might appear to show ursine characteristics, but it is a marsupial, and not related to any species of bear.'
A female bear is referred to as a sow.
Do foxes have any specific adatations that help it live in its habitats?
This depends upon the species.
For example, the fur of Arctic foxes changes colour according to the seasons, while the Red fox has a reddish-brown colour to enable it to camouflage within the undergrowth of its environment.
Generally, there are some adaptations that all fox species display.
1) They have sharp claws that dig their dens. These claws also serve to kill their prey.
2) They have sharp teeth which help them to shred and tear their food, which can be meat or plants since they are omnivores (not carnivores, as is commonly believed).
3) Their long legs, compared to body and head size, are good for running quickly while chasing prey.
4) When being chased the fox will vomit so that it can run faster. By vomiting they empty their stomachs which make them lighter and more agile.
5) They have a very good sense of hearing, smell, and sight, which warns them if danger is coming.
The answer is a pup-mother i believe. That's what I've been taught.

Why are foxes important in the world?
So, besides being wonderfully beautiful, one of the most adaptable animals in the world, and highly intelligent...their usefulness...
The fox is part of the ecosystem's predator-prey check & balance, hunting and eating rodents, birds, underground things such as worms, beetles, and spiders...this, as with any animal which eats other animals, is natural pest-population control. It's a rather self explanatory thing: if there were no predators, the rodents and deer and other prey-type animals would just breed out of control, causing them to eat up their food sources (plants...and PLEASE don't tell me plants are useless too), it also causes diseases to start and spread more easily.
It's an extremely useful thing if you ask me. I'd rather see foxes in the woods than my house filled with rats.
Like other foxes it hunts for it's prey, it's diet is just limited to the animals available.

Are foxes related to dogs or cats?

Can you own a fox as a pet in Illinois?
In Michigan, only NATIVE animals need DNR permits. This includes Red Foxes that are red in fur color (You do not need a DNR permit for a Red Fox that is Marble, Cross, Silver or ANY other color phase than red. Silvers, Marbles and Crosses ARE "Red" foxes though, just like how there are Yellow, Chocolate and Black Labradors, they are all Labradors) and you would need a permit for a Grey Fox. Fennecs are not native to Michigan.
That depends on what you describe as fast. Their top running speed is about 48km/h.
Most foxes especially red foxes are extremely beautiful! Especially in the wintertime when their coats are long and red. Fennec Foxes are really cute too! With their big ears and sandy coats. It all really depends on your opinion though. If you don't like foxes you might think they are ugly. You never know...

What survival skills does a fox have?

How much is a licence or permit to own a pet fox in Mn.?
You may own a pet fox, be it a red or fennec fox but you need a license to do so & the fox must be from a breeder, not taken from the wild.
Why are foxes described as adaptable?
You will need to do research on that. I'm only in the fourth grade so sorry I can not help you. But maybe someone will come along on this question and improve it. You can erase my message its fine! But no others unless I say so! Thanks and re search if its that important. You should loook up animals and habitats for foxes.. That might be a cue you could use
No, they live in a warm environment and do not need to migrate
Red foxes are, overall, beneficial as they help control rodent and rabbit populations. They will also take domestic animals, such as poultry, rabbits, lambs, small cats and small dogs and people need to take precautions and protect their animals. Foxes do what foxes do!
Why do foxes have such long ears?
Foxes didn't choose to have "large" ears and they don't. You may have seen the Fennec fox, they do have quite big ears. Why? They are desert foxes and must hear their prey. The desert is pretty calm and quiet, so the Fennec must hear for any prey possible. But no, not all foxes have large ears.
