Making a good fursuit will take a lot of practice. You first few suits will most certainly not turn out looking like the professionals. However f you keep practicing soon they will. I highly recommend watching a ton of video tutorials, as ell as speaking to other fursuit makers most are more than willing to help out someone who is just starting.
Art:
This is also something that will take practice. Having a good understanding of both human and animal anatomy is a good idea. Make sure to have reference pictures o the animal that you are drawling, and be sure to refer to them often as you work. You may also wish to purchase some art books, there is a series specifically about drawing furries.

When designing your fursona remember to be creative. Choose colors that you like and that also look good together. emember that sometimes the simpler designs can describe you best, but if you prefer incarcerate designs than make those as well. Never steal another persona furson and claim it as your own, they worked very hard on that and you could potentially make them look very bad to others of the fandom.
