Can corn and garter snakes live in same tank?

No, the humidity and sometimes semi-aquatic nature of Garter Snake enclosures will almost definetly lead to illnesses like Blister-Disease, Mouth-Rot, and URI in Corns, all of which have proven fatal in some cases. Garter Snakes are typically left fish in the enclosure for them to hunt, although it isn't easy for a Snake of any variety to drown competition between a the species would result in a Corn seriously wounding or killing a Garter on land, Garter Snakes lack teeth and easily over-powered by a heavier corn. Combat in the water may prove fatal for a Corn, capable of quick ventures in shallows at most. A Garter Snake could tolerate cooler water temperatures much longer and with ease than that of a Corn. Various moist substrates used in Garter Snake enclosures would ruin a Corn's natural beauty and prove harmful of infection to wounds and during shedding, as well as the substrate would raise the humidty beyond what a Corn could tolerate. Aspen and Cypress mulch commonly used for Corns would cause almost certain dehydration and if ingested fatal blockage in Garters. Higher energy Garters moving about an enclosure would stress a more secretive Corn to points of reluctant feeding, weakened-immune systems, and because fight is the only choice of the natural "Fight or Flight" response occurring in most creatures, a stressed and/or defensive Corn would practice tail-ratting and strike at Garters or Owners repeatedly. The two snakes require entirely different care needs, habitat set-ups, and natural competition over resources could prove distasterous and heart-breaking. However, with the appropiate enclosure set-up pairs or trios of Corns can be housed year-round in a enclosure large enough for two hideboxes per snake (prevent fights, rarely happens, often tankmates may "cuddle"), plants and branches to provide visual barriers for a sense of security and climbing, and ensure each snake is fed seperately outside the enclosure. Using the same feeding tank is fine but never feed snakes at the same time.

It is very difficult. Garter snakes are active, nervous serpents, and rarely settle down. They should not be kept as pets.

Snakes are not like dogs... they cannot be "made" into tame pets. Although I am sure they can be pets, I don't believe they will ever come when you call, fetch a stick/ball, or let you pet it.
