If you're referring to a double award science it mean working towards two GCSE's for science
If you're doing triple award, it means working towards three GCSE's but there will be more, harder, work.
Whatever your pick, it will still cover all three sciences

All establishments have slightly different ways of doing it. The main two are to either have it sent to your adress, so you will get it when you get home. The other option is to sign a letter saying you give permission for a friend, family member or teacher to pick it up for you, and they can then ring you to deliver the news.
maths and English are both compulsory for a standard grade level.
History is the obvious one, but also you would need at least a C in English and probably maths. You would need at least 5 A*-C GCSE passes so that you could go on to study history for A Level and then at university

Depending on your school, the general age you chose your options if you're studying them through Year 10 and 11 (other schools have different paths, ie, a year studying each option from Year 9-11) is 13/14, basically around Year 9 March/April.
EDIT: At my school we choose them in February of year eight.

hope that helped :p
No specific GCSE's are required, however taking a suitable course for further education after secondary school will help you, and look great on your CV, even if it is just an equine care course.
Well normally colleges and sixth forms want 5 A* - C GCSE grades . These have to include English and Maths. However , if you apply before hand with a good interview , they could accept you even if you only have 2-3 GCSE's

The requirements for entry to a degree course in Physiotherapy are 5 GCSEs/S Grades (A-C/1-3) with 2 A Levels/4H Grades including a preference for Biology or other science.
The BTEC National Diploma in Health Studies (Science) or the advanced GNVQ/GSVQ in Health and Social Care or Science (usually with A Level Biology) is also an option for entry.
To qualify as a chartered physiotherapist (essential for NHS work) you must first take an approved degree course in Physiotherapy. Subjects will include anatomy, physiology, pathology, physics and behavioral science as well as practice.
I think it equals a B, i got told I was getting a B, and my friend an A, we both got C's so we were like Wtf?! He emailed our teacher, and he said roughly a B. An M is an A, and a D is a A* which is pretty screwed.
Three sciences
Maths u probably need a maths (3a and 3b)
A variety of subjects - eg. an art, a language, a humanity
and general English with economics for business
Are you American? I'm assuming you are, since you said 'high school'. I don't know if the requirements to get into Med. school in America are different than in England, so you'll want to double-check this:
Chemistry is essential
At least one out of: biology, physics, maths, further maths
Some universities prefer you to have all science subjects, while others prefer an arts for the third. As a rule, English literature is well-received (except for Cambridge University, who require all sciences).
The best way to check specific requirements is to email a couple of universities, even if you're still years away from applying and even if you wouldn't necessarily attend them, and ask what they would advise for a successful application to study medicine - they're usually very helpful. It all depends on what the occupation is.
Communication skills..... working with others and the general public Of course the love of animals is important, but hard physical work will be your best asset. Knowing the everyday life of an animal, from birth, through sickness, mating habits, common dangers and to their death, would be a prerequisite of working with animals. Which can be very rewarding. Good Luck
Check with UCAS and the Universitys you're interested in (I assume ur in the UK, otherwise u wont know was UCAS is but the latter contact still stands)
I would expect you can, I'm doing an applied course also and they will accept it but the points and grades system isn't the same as everyone else, so just get in contact with the unis and they'll help
