Mites are usually found on wild caught animals. A lot of chain stores sell WC (wild caught) animals as they are easily imported for a wholesale price and sold for high profits. If you have purchased an animal from a pet store, there is always risk of internal and external parasites.

Leopard geckos native area's include: Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Afganistan. They live in temperatures ranging from 80-105F depending on season. These animals cannot survive for long without the temperatures reaching 80 minimal as a basking spot(2-5days max). A lot of people reccomend a heating mat with 2 or more inches of substrates so the animal cannot burn it's underside. A heating mat will keep your tank regulated at all times, incase of times without light.

Tuko or tokek is the native name the Indonesian people have given the Tokay gecko. the name derives from the sounds that a tokay makes. These animals are very aggressive but not venomous in any ways.

If it really is a gecko, they aren't poisonous. I'd observe the toddler for a day or so and not worry too much about this. If they show any adverse reactions -- vomiting, hives, truoble breathing, etc., I'd call a doctor. However I'd be very surprised if this causes any real problems.

you should tell her that she will not get involved and there will be no work for her. You should try to buy the gecko and all it's supplies with your own money. The gecko should not give your mom any problems. Nothing should affect her at all.

It all depends on the breed and attitude.Leopard geckos are a very good pet though ive just got it.But if its moody and dosent like you touching it its all right but if it lets you stroke it all the time its an amazing pet!

i give him about 5 and the pet store girl told me to take everything out of his tank so he pays attention to his food and nothing else. he doesnt have a fat tail neither but he poos everyday so i dont know.

the best way to assist with a leopards acclimation period is to ensure all of its needs are met. A leopard gecko enjoys temperatures ranging from 85-95 degrees. This can usually be accomplished with a 18-24" tall tank accompanied by a 25-50 watt bulb. Next is to ensure that there is proper bedding. Housing a leopard on sand is okay but if your leopard has a tendency of swallowing a lot of sand when eating/ grabbing insects can be bad for their digestive tract. It is best to use a loose substrate verses a fine one such as: husks, a reptile carpet, laminate/ vinyl flooring or even some types of soil. Another thing is diet: leopard geckos are insectivores therefore relying on a variety of insects. Offer your leopard a mix in diet. Crickets, meal worms, superworms, wax worms, butterworms, tomato worms. Your pet will enjoy a change in diet and possibly a more exciting hunt. The last thing is placement of tank and accessories. The tank/aquarium/vivarium must be placed in an area of the house that does not receive direct sunlight from a window. The exterior of the tank is heated much like a greenhouse when natural light pours in and this can cause a drastic change in temperature in a short time. The animal should not be left in a place with high traffic as a vacuum or sink can be noisy and cause stress. Ensure that children and pets do not have direct access. placement of accessories. A leopard gecko will enjoy a place to hide under and on top of. When sleeping and requiring lower temperatures, the animal will seek out a dark space and bury the lower half of its body to cool. When wanting to heat up, they will generally seek out the highest point of the tank and bask in the light fixture. All of the things explained above are the needs/ care required for a leopard. Depending on the species of the gecko will determine if the gecko would require a larger tank or not. A small gecko species would do fine in a 10 gallon tank but larger species such as Tokay geckos or Leachianus gecko would require a larger terrarium.

Also, depending on the specie of gecko will determine if the tank should be of horizontal orient or vertical. A ground welling specie will enjoy a horizontal layout, while an arboreal specie would prefer the vertical.

If the geckos eggs have not been kept at the proper incubating temperatures they will usually start to turn to a different color and sometimes even dent inwards.

Airlines can tell you what regulations they have concerning pets on board. A gecko, like a snake, would probably have to fly with the baggage (unless you have a first class ticket, which sometimes presents different rules).

Well, I would say 10 gallons for one gecko, and maybe a 15 or a 20 gallon for two of them.

It is very very sick. Get it to the nearest vet, (yes vets treat geckos) or it might be too late. :( How did it look like when you first got it?

My house gecko only eats cockroaches. He likes to catch the cockroaches himself. When he is done hunting he goes back in his habitat for a drink of water. I live in a large multi-unit building, with a bug problem. That's why I got the gecko in the first place. Since the first week I had him I don't see bugs very often. He's fat too. If I drop a cricket in his habitat or even a roach, he won't take it because he's full from hunting.

A house gecko is an insectivore and will enjoy a variety of live feeders gutloaded and coated in calcium.
