Why is genetically modified food cheap?
Genetically modified food is so cheap because the processes used in growing it is supposedly "faster, better, and cheaper." Most soybeans, which are in most of the foods we consume, are genetically modified and nobody really knows. Companies just want to grow more for cheap then sell more at a cheap price.

They want to be able to make an informed choice about the food they eat, and many do not want to eat GMO foods at all, but labeling GMO foods has come against opposition from biotech and food companies.

How much GMO food is eaten nowadays?
In the United States, the amount of GMO foods that are eaten is not known, but it is reasonable to assume that it is a very high percentage. For example:
GMO or genetically modified organisms are made by changing genetic sequence of an organism. Usually, it means adding genes that an organism doesn't have naturally, which helps, for example, their immune system, makes them more resistant to bad conditions etc. So, I think it is ok to say that additional genes are put inside gmo food.

How do Schneider and Schneider define genetically modified foods?
They explain what a genetically modified food is this way: "A genetically modified (GM) food or genetically modified organism (GMO) results from the use of recombinant DNA biotechnological procedures that allow the genetic makeup of a food or organism to be altered in some way. This 'recombination' can be accomplished by moving genes from one organism to another or by changing genes in an organism that are already present. These changes result in the expression of attributes not found in the original organism."
Do you like to eat GMO foods why or why not?
People have different opinions about eating GMO foods. Some do not seem to be concerned about eating them, while others prefer to avoid them. It doesn't appear that anyone seeks them out so they can eat them. Personally, I do not like to eat GMO foods simply because there are still too many uncertainties about them, and there is at least some anecdotal evidence that they cause harm to people's health. Also, the science used to show they are safe is heavily influenced by the very corporations that create the GMOs.
Do genetically modified foods and cloned foods need stricter regulations and labeling?
They most certainly do! Neither GMO nor cloned foods have been thoroughly researched to know what effect they will have on the enviroment, animals, and humans. However, if the information I am reading is correct, and I believe it is, if you are purchasing your groceries from a regular supermarket or grocery you are already buying "genfoods"(foods with GMO ingredients in them) and have been for several years. I think that might be the reason the FDA won't address the issue of labeling for GMOs. If the list I have is correct, there wouldn't be any processed foods, as well as some produce, meat, and dairy products, that would not have to have their GMO ingredients listed. On the other hand, if that is right, why list them? Just assume they all contain GMOs and start buying groceries at a health food store. Okay, so it might be more expensive, but it's either that or be Monsanto's (and other companies) guinea pigs.
Is the canola oil in Cape Cod potato chips GMO?

How do you choose the genetically modified food?
Choosing GMO food in the United States is not difficulat at all, At least 70% of the processed foods sold in grocery stores contain GMO ingredients, and a large amount of the meat is grown using hormones developed through genetic engineering. To choose GMO foods, all one has to do is buy food that is not labeled "100% organic" in any grocery store. The exception to that would be to buy fresh fruits and vegetables, though some, such as sweet corn, sugar beets, papayas, and crookneck squash may be genetically modified, and other fruits and vegetables may be genetically modified in the future.
When organic crops are pollinated with GMO crops, the GMO gene can become a part of the organic crop, so the organic seed for the following year contains the GMO. Technically, since organic crops are not supposed to have GMOs in them, this contaminates the organic crops.
