What is the messiah composed be george frideric text based on?
The text of G. F. Handel's Messiah is based on scriptures taken from various books in the King James Version of the Bible. The text was edited together by Charles Jennens, though Handel probably had a lot of input either during the process or after the fact. There is also uncertainty about the role of Jennens's chaplain, Mr. Pooley, who may or may not have done most of the work. Ironically, Jennens was skeptical about the work spoke to others disparagingly of Handel.
This kind of libretto was a bit unusual in that Biblical oratorios are usually taken from a straightforward historical narrative (such as Handel's Saul) which provides a plot structure that can be treated in a fashion similar to that of an opera. Messiah, however, is essentially the story of Christ's redemptive work, both from prophecy (especially from Isaiah) and from the New Testament.
The attached link gives the full text with scripture references.

Beethoven may not be the only composer who was deaf but he was a composer and he did go deaf later in his life.
Ludwig van Beethoven, the German composer and pianist, was born in 1770. Somewhere around 1796, Beethoven began to lose his hearing, suffering from severe tinnitus (ringing in the ears) which made it difficult for him to hear the music. By 1814, he was almost completely deaf. There has been much speculation as to what caused his deafness, but the true reason remains unknown.
Beethoven continued to compose music, despite the fact that his hearing had deteriorated to the point that he used "conversation books". He became sick in December 1826, becoming mostly bedridden until his death on 26 March, 1827.
ADDITION: Other fairly composers have gone deaf, including William Boyce (prior to Beethoven) and Bedřich Smetana. Both of these continued to work after their hearing loss, as Beethoven.
ADDITION: Gabriel Urbain Fauré also went deaf towards the end of his life and continued to compose. Also the lesser known German composer Felix Draeseke.
ADDITION: A living composer who actually began her music career with profound deafness (from age 12) is Dame Evelyn Glennie, who has composed/performed some of the most fascinating percussion music I've ever heard.
Ludwig Van Beethoven
ADDITION: Bedrich Smetana has already lost much of his hearing when he composed the famous piece, "Die Moldau"

Bachs music more memorable than Handels music?
When you're talking about two composers of such stature, I don't know how to say one is better or more memorable than the other. I think it's safe to say that Bach has tended to be viewed as the more important of the two, but part of that may be a bias that doesn't value the operatic and choral writing of Handel to the same degree as the instrumental works of Bach. Now, I would agree that Bach's Brandenburg concertos are far and away more interesting works than the concerti grossi of Handel (though these are also delightful works); but Bach never wrote an opera, and I doubt he could have rivaled Handel's mastery of that field.
Another area to consider is that of influence on later composers. Obviously both were tremendously influential, but I think Bach scores higher on this count for two reasons: 1) his sons who became influential composers in the next era and directly influenced Haydn and Mozart, and 2) his impact on composition technique in the area of counterpoint. As skilled as Handel was, his strength (in my opinion) was in his command of the Baroque melodic style; once the Baroque era had passed, his influence was more limited than that of Bach, whose counterpoint technique translates across many styles and continues to be relevant down to the present.
But again, both are giants of Western music and blessings to my life and many others. It's like asking which of my children I like best! I would love to hear other opinions on this.

The song hallelujah was in the movie "Shrek", and I believe was played in the musical when it was performing. However, I do not know of any other instances
