What number do you need to dial an American cell phone from Ghana?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

To dial any number in the USA, Canada, etc., from a landline in Ghana, dial 00 1 and then the three-digit area code and 7-digit subscriber number.

To call US/Canada/etc. from any GSM mobile anywhere in the world, dial +1 (including the plus symbol) and then the area code and number.

(The plus sign means "insert your international access prefix here." From a GSM mobile phone, you can enter the number in full international format, starting with the plus sign. The most common prefix is 00, but Nigeria uses 009, Japan uses 010, Australia uses 0011, and many other countries use different prefixes.)

Will a tv bought in the us work in Ghana?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Ghana uses PAL 50Hz television standards while North America uses NTSC 60Hz. Although some US televisions will operate on 50Hz and PAL color systems, by no means all of them will. It will be much safer to buy locally or at least to buy in Europe where PAL 50Hz standards are used.

There are methods to use North American televisions on European signals but they tend to be cumbersome and expensive.

What is the telephone area code for Takoradi Ghana?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Ghana is country code +233. Note that you must drop the trunk prefix 0 from the beginning of the Ghanaian number. There will be exactly 9 digits following country code +233.

Note also that Ghana completely overhauled its telephone numbering plan in 2010, changing almost every telephone number in the country; for details, see the related link.

Landlines in Ghana begin with +233 3.

Mobiles begin with +233 2 or +233 5.

(The plus sign means "insert your international access prefix here." From a GSM mobile phone, you can enter the number in full international format, starting with the plus sign. The most common prefix is 00, but North America (USA, Canada, etc.) uses 011, Japan uses 010, Australia uses 0011, and many other countries use different prefixes.).
To call Ghana from the US/Canada dial 011 + 233 + area code + phone number :)

What are the postal codes for Ghana?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Please always verify with reliable sources that your answers are correct before you post them. Ghana does not have any postal codes or zip codes. Yes the previous answer wasn't totally off because certainly 00233 is a code used for communication in Ghana, but instead of for postal letter and shipping stuff there it is used for talking to people on the phone. 00233 is the country code calling (international country calling code specifically). So when making a call you would dial 00233 and then the person's phone number just like in America many times we dial 1 first. It can also be in the format +233 and then the person's phone number.

So when you want to send a letter or a package to someone in Ghana remember they use PO Boxes only because they do not have full residential addresses because they don't have zip/postal codes, only some places have street names like businesses and while they do have Regions (similar to a State or Province) their Region is not apart of their address.

What code do you dial to make a phone to Ghana from nigeria?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Mobile numbers in Ghana begin with the following prefixes:

Vodafone: 020 or 050

Glo Mobile: 023

MTN: 024 or 054

Zain Airtel: 026

Tigo Millicom: 027 or 057

Within Ghana, dial the mobile code and the 7-digit subscriber number. From outside Ghana, replace the leading zero of the mobile code with Ghana's country code +233. The plus sign means "insert your international access prefix here." Different countries use different prefixes, including 00, 011, 009, 0011, and 010.

(The plus sign means "insert your international access prefix here." From a GSM mobile phone, you can enter the number in full international format, starting with the plus sign. Negative effect on rural urban migration in the village in Ghana?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Urban-to-rural migration, also known as rural-urban migration, can have several negative effects on rural villages in Ghana, as well as in many other countries. Here are some of the potential negative impacts:

Population Pressure: A sudden influx of migrants can put pressure on the existing population and local resources in rural villages. This can lead to increased competition for jobs, land, and basic services.

Strain on Infrastructure: Rural villages may not have the infrastructure to support an increased population. This can result in overcrowding, inadequate housing, and overburdened public services such as schools and healthcare facilities.

Rising Land and Housing Costs: The demand for land and housing in rural areas may increase due to migration, causing property prices to rise. This can make it difficult for local residents to afford land and housing.

Cultural Clash: Migrants from urban areas may have different lifestyles, values, and expectations compared to rural residents. This cultural clash can sometimes lead to social tensions and conflicts within the community.

Environmental Impact: An increase in population can put additional stress on the environment, leading to issues like deforestation, land degradation, and increased pollution.

Pressure on Social Services: Rural areas may struggle to provide essential social services such as healthcare and education to an expanding population. This can result in inadequate access to these services for both migrants and existing residents.

Loss of Agricultural Labor: In rural areas, agriculture is often a primary source of livelihood. When young people migrate to urban areas, there may be a shortage of agricultural labor, which can affect food production and the local economy.

Remittance Dependency: Some migrants may send remittances back to their rural families, which can create dependency on this source of income and discourage local economic development efforts.

Youth Drain: Rural villages may experience a "youth drain" as young people migrate to cities in search of better opportunities. This can result in an aging population in rural areas, which may have implications for community vitality.

It's important to note that the impact of rural-urban migration can vary depending on the specific circumstances of each village and the policies in place to address the challenges. While there are potential negative effects, it's also possible for migration to bring positive changes to rural areas, such as the transfer of skills, knowledge, and remittances from migrants.

Efforts to manage and mitigate the negative effects of migration on rural villages often involve policies that support rural development, improve infrastructure, and provide opportunities for education and job creation locally. Additionally, promoting sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation can help address some of the challenges associated with rural-urban migration.
