Yes. I believe in Commonweatlh countries ( British colonies and ex-colonies) the term Girl Guides is preferred for the female contingents, as Scout is considered a Male occupational noun. They ought to use Observer, which is gender neutral, as in Forward Observer, and it is a frequent moniker for Newspapers. ( Osservatore Romano)

Girl Scouts of the USA councils assign a five digit troop number to each troop in their council.

If a Girl Scout/Girl Guide troop wants a troop name, they may choose their own, usually something that signifies the troop or that is related to the troop crest.

In Turkey, they are called Girl Guides and are members of the "Scouting and Girl Guiding Federation of Turkey."

There are five levels of Girl Guides in Turkey:

Smurf: ages 5 to 7

Star: ages 7 to 11

Guide: ages 11 to 15

Venture Guide: ages 15 to 18

Young Adults: ages 18 to 22

The first Girl Scout troops in the Philippines were started by American missionaries in 1918.

The Girl Scout movement in the Philippines was formally launched in 1939 following GSP Founder Josefa Llanes Escoda's arrival from an intensive Girl Scout training in the USA. In 1940 the Girl Scouts of the Philippines was chartered as a national organization.

Right now, you can either do it the old way (15 hours not including planning/research) or the new way (50 hours and a journey including planning/research). In a few years, only the latter will be accepted.

Since 1996 all members have been referred to as Guides. Some areas use the former level names as names for their units.

All members under the age of 18 are Guides. Each Unit chooses how to be organized. The unit may be organized by age or by special skills such as sports or outdoor activities.

Groups in Girl Guides and Girl Scouts can be different things. One main group is the Unit, Troop, Group or Pack. Patrols or Sixes are smaller groups made from the Troop or Group.

Groups can also be formed for various activities such as a volunteer group or a travel group.

The highest award a Girl Scout member of Girl Scouts of the USA can earn is the Girl Scout Gold Award. The Girl Scout must be a Girl Scout Senior or Girl Scout Ambassador in order to work on the 7 steps required to earn the Girl Scout Gold Award.

There are five main scouting organizations in France which are members of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), all of which have either Girl Guides or Girl Scouts as members.

The People's Republic of China/Mainland China does not have a Girl Guide or Girl Scout organization. However, Hong Kong is a special administrative region of the People's Republic of China and they do have The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association.

For the Hong Kong Girl Guides:

Happy Bees wear a blue shirt, dark blue pants or shorts, and a yellow Guider scarf.

The Brownie uniform is a light brown dress with a brown belt, brown sash, a yellow Guider scarf, and a light brown hat.

The Guide uniform is a blue dress, blue hat, dark blue belt, dark blue sash, and dark blue Guider scarf.

The Ranger uniform is a dark blue skirt, dark blue hat, and a dark blue Guider Scarf. The color of the blouse depends on which kind of Ranger; green for Ranger, blue for Sea Ranger, and white for Air Ranger.

You should get a copy of the badge requirements for your particular Girl Guide organization and then decide which badge you would like to earn. Read through and follow the requirements. Be sure you meet with your Guider/Leader so that they know you are working on a badge.

Girl Scout Cadettes

For Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), Girl Scout Juniors are grades 4 and 5. Girl Scout Cadettes are the next level, grades 6, 7, and 8.

The organization is named Girl Scouts of the United States of America.

Girl Guides voulenteer their time to help the community. They make crafts for children in the hospital, sing carols for the old folks home, and raise money for foodbanks, the United way and underprivledged girls in other countries.

A Girl Scout Friendship Circle is formed by standing in a circle, putting right hands over left hands, and holding hands with the people on either side. If done correctly, the Girl Scouts in the circle should be able to turn and face outside without breaking the circle.

A Friendship Circle represents the unbroken chain of friendship of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world.

Many troops use the Girl Scout Friendship Circle to close their troop meetings. They can also share the Friendship Squeeze and sing a song, usually "Make New Friends". As the meeting ends, they turn the circle out and then leave.
