Laptops do not have a VGA or PCI-E x16 slot so, no. Most have integrated graphics. Sometimes you can send it into the manufacturer to get a better integrated graphics chip installed, but you're probably better off buying a new laptop as the aforementioned process can be excruciatingly expensive and you'll be out of a laptop for a while.

Ok, you can use an ExpressCard to PCI-E converter device, which does exist,and then install whatever PCI-E card you want on that. That way it would use an external display, but it would work.

You can install two video cards in a motherboard that has two 16x Graphic card slots available. If they are SLI or Crossfire compatible, they will work together and both total up your graphics memory. If you have graphics cards that are different, most likely one will be disabled or they could have drivers issues. It really depends, you could just put it in and try.

If you have an external graphics card, it will be located in the agp slot on your motherboard. If you open the case on your computer, you should be able to see it. The agp slot is often at the top of and of a different colour to the PCI slots. Cards which are mounted on the motherboard are called onboard graphics cards and are a different matter. Consult your motherboard manual for layout and for where the onboard graphics card should be.

A video card is part of the output chain but is not an output device on it's own. The monitor is usually the device that is considered an "output device".

No, the graphics chipset on nearly all laptops is on the motherborad and laptops do not not have expansion slots. Desktops often have "on-board" graphis as well, but they have expansion slots so you can disable the on-board graphics and add a video card to one of the expansion slots to upgrade the graphics.

Generally the 320M should outperform the HD 5470. Neither can play the more demanding games on anything else than maybe low to medium graphic settings.

The only major advantage of the HD 5470 would be it's DX11 support (vs 10.1 on the 320M), which still isn't such a big deal since it probably won't be able to play DX11 games on a level of detail where it would mater.

In short, both can be used to play lighter games as well as high definition video and Internet browsing.

It's not generally a wise choice to try to upgrade a graphics card on a notebook. On most notebooks, the graphics card is integrated to the motherboard, so you'd need to replace basically the whole notebook.

Locate the connector where the CRT plugs in. If it plugs in to a separate card, that's the graphics card. If it plugs in directly to the motherboard then the graphics card is integral to the motherboard.

It will work, if it is compatible with the signalling voltage on the motherboard (1.5v for AGP 1x, 2x and 4x), but it will only work at up to the 4x that your motherboard is capable of. Those folks experiencing problems with 8x cards in 4x slots might consider the possibility of power supply issues. Many old Dells and others have only 250 watt supplies, and the new dual gizmo gazillion megahertz screamers take a lot more juice than the factory-supplied cards.

Some 8x cards are designed to be able to clock down to 4x, some are not. Many times it will say whether or not this is possible right on the box. In all respects the motherboard or 8x card should not be damaged by attempting this, the worst that will happen is it wont work.

A modem is a piece of hardware in which you plug a phone line into to connect to dial up internet access. PCI is simply the cards interface, in your situation it's a card that gets plugged into a PCI slot on your motherboard.

No, but I think you've got a few terms confused.

DDR2 "slots" are for the main system memory. A "DDR3 graphic card' is a graphic card that uses DDR3 memory.

A PCI-E DDR3 Graphics card should work fine in a PCI-E slot, or a AGP DDR3 Graphics card should work fine in a AGP slot (4x or 8x, dont try to use a 4x or above AGP card in an older x1 or x2 slot).
