Gray foxes are medium sized canines who are distantly related to their more famous cousin, the Red fox. Gray foxes are found from southern Canada down to the extreme northern parts of South America where they inhabit forested areas and generally stay away from human habitation as they do not adapt well to urban areas. They are one of two canine species that can and do climb trees to obtain food or flee from predators.
