It is better to pour water into flasks/bottles and leave it for a few days. Then you can pour it into your aquarium. But be careful not to disturb the sand or whatever you have at the bottom of the aquarium and also that the poured water is approximately the same temperature as the water already inside the bowl.

-The old fashioned way is to boil it (this does not distill it, but does steralize it)

-You could always get a distiller that is easy to install on a tap

-Try Brita water filters, they work pretty well as well.

You should have used an iron sequestering agent if you were aware of the iron in the water. Filtering 24/7 until you have run the entire body of water thru the filter at least once.- called turn over. You must use the sequestering agent on a regular basis for this problem. Back wash the filter after 2 days of filtering and start with fresh filter media. DO NOT add chlorine especially liquid to the pool immediately after adding fill water. wait until you are sure that you have filtered for at least 6 to 8 hrs. k
