Guinea fowl typically measure about 17 to 28 inches in length and weigh between 1.5 to 4.5 pounds, depending on the species. They have a distinctive body shape with a rounded appearance, a small head, and a short neck. Their plumage is usually a mix of gray and black with white spots, giving them a unique and attractive appearance. Overall, they are medium-sized birds, often kept for their meat and as pest controllers in gardens.
What to do if Guinea fowl not lay eggs after 28 week?
A young guinea pullet can lay her first egg as early as 16 weeks, but this depends on your location and weather. Guinea Hens are seasonal layers (unlike chickens that lay year-around), producing eggs from March through October, so depending on the weather, the season may be shorter or longer. First-time guinea pullets may lay their first egg or two in the midst of winter, but that will stop and they will begin again in the spring. If your guinea hen is older than 28 weeks old and has not produced an egg, perhaps you should consider it may not be a hen but a guinea cock? Do you know how to vent sex your guinea? www.guineafowl.com has sound recordings that will enable you to hear the difference between a guinea hen and a guinea cock
Yes, guinea fowls are omnivores. They have a diet that includes seeds, insects, small reptiles, and even small mammals. They are opportunistic feeders and will consume a variety of foods depending on what is available to them.
How many people will a guinea fowl feed?
Eight people, would be one good answer, but not very instructive.
The answer lies in how hungry your guests are, of course, but let's break it down.
A whole chicken is usually cut up into these pieces:
Two breasts (white meat)
Two wings (dark meat)
Two drumsticks (dark meat)
and two thighs (dark meat)
So eight pieces and a carcass or back.
So your eight guests could each get a piece of chicken assuming they were not too picky about the piece they ate. And the real hungry guy could get the back too.
Personally, I'd take half a breast and the carcass and make chicken soup and have another whole meal for everybody.
Can male guinea fowl mate with a chicken hen?
Yes. When kept in a flock together, chickens and guineas will indeed interbreed occasionally. Sometimes the result is a fertile egg. The survival rate in these hybrids is higher if the female is guinea and fertilized by the rooster. In this case the incubation period for the resulting egg is 25-26 days. There is a lower probability of survival for those hens who mate with the guinea cock in which case incubation is usually 21-22 days.

How do you determine the sex of a guinea fowl?
The adult guinea male is called a cock. He makes a one-syllable sound when alerted by anything unusual. He is also recognized (as the adult pictured) by having larger wattles than the female, and a somewhat larger helmet. He makes a ONE-syllable sound only: "CHI-CHi-Chi-chi...".
The adult female is called the guinea hen. She makes a two-syllable sound commonly: "buck-wheat,buck-wheat". She can immitate the sound of the cock.
As keets, determining the sex is nearly impossible, until they discover their voices at about 8 weeks of age. The size of the wattles on keets will be the nearly the same until they are a few months old when the wattles of the male begin to develop. (Vent sexing keets is difficult.)
Although wattle size and some actions may suggest the sex of a adult guinea fowl, sound is the sure way to determine the sex (as is vent sexing older guineas).
Young guineas cannot be sight-sexed like other poultry such as chickens. The hens and cocks look exactly the same except for some colors where the hens are darker, as both keet and adult. The only sure way to tell the sexes apart is to listen for the two-syllable call the hen makes. This sound has been described as sounding like "buckwheat, buckwheat", "putt-rock, putt-rock" or "qua-track, qua-track". This is the only sound that the hen makes that the male does not.
It is a chicken type flyless bird. A little smaller than a regular egg layin hen and greish blue with dots in color. So far I have not found a link with a picture of an adult guinea to add in the related links box.

Can a guinea fowl change gender?
Yes, but can only be sure of the difference by listening to their calls. Can't really do it from a photo. The female (hen) goes 'buck-wheat, buck-wheat', as its unique call which males (cocks) can't do, but both birds can do another one, which is 'chi, chi chi'. For females this is an alert call, males a general call. Both can also do a trill but they do the same thing so don't worry about that.

Yes, you can cross breed chickens and most of the time, we can't stop ours from cross breeding anyway as they all run around as a flock. The results mean they will not sell for very much but some can look absaloubtley gorgeous!
How do you care for a Guinea fowl?
The last answer was great, don't get me wrong, but maybe i could help too. I had three guinea pigs that i loved truly and that live to a fantastic age of 8, so im quite experienced. You need to clean them out every week, and bed their cage with sawdust or wood shavings, and in the bed area: hay or straw. buy them some guinea pig food from your local pet store and feed them every day. Note: Get rid of their old food from the day before. Change their water every other day averagely. In the winter they will not drink much, but will still need water, so make sure it doesn't freeze and that they are not cold, because my friends piglet died in the cold. also in the summer they will need more water than usual, so give them plenty to keep them hydrated. also, if the weather is warm, make sure they have a safe area to Rome around grassy areas, which will make them happy. Also make sure they are not on their own, and that they have a playmate (another guinea pig, preferably of the same gender) because i have worked all my life with guinea pigs and one thing i do know is that they live longer if they have a companion. Any other questions? Contact me :D
