At birth he was swallowed by his father, the Titan god of time - Cronos.

His mother is Rhea.

He is the brother of Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Hestia, and Demeter.

He is the ruler of the land of the dead within the Underworld.

He received the dead guided to the Underworld by Hermes and ferried them accross the Akheron (or Styx).

His mother was Nyx (Night); his father Erebus (Darkness).

The fee for his service was a single obolos coin which was placed in the mouth of a corpse at burial.

The Lord of the Underworld is Hades.

In ancient times there were hymns and funeral rites of the dead where he was invoked, he also had temples in ancient Greece.

No you cannot kill hades because he is a god but he can fade away if he is not remembered:-(

Hades' Allies are the Gods and Goddesses; demi gods and goddesses that dwell with Him in the Underworld. Persephone, Charon, Hecate etc..

Most Greeks were afraid of Hades, because he was very misunderstood. They saw him as the bringer of death, not just the one who presided over it. They thought even saying his name was a bad omen, and would call him other things such as the melancholy one, or the underworld Zeus, etc. Personally, Zeus is much scarier what with his penchant for raping anything that moves. But anyway. There were very few temples to hades, known as Nekronomaitons (I may be spelling it oddly, but dear Aidoneous will forgive me). It's suggested that people would sacrifice black (color associated with death) animals and bang on the ground to make sure he was listening, but only the fools did that. Hades did not need people to bang on the ground for him to hear. His priests were also fools, and he disliked them greatly for their fakery. they would pretend that He was flying them around the room as people decended into the depths to communicate with the dead. They were exposed and killed, and the temple all but destroyed.

Tl;dr: almost no one. there was one each generation who was a true priest/priestess of hades, but... there hasn't been one in a long time.

Because of Greek myth, many ideas of modern heaven and hell were seeded from the idea of Tartarus as a 'hell' and the blessed Elysian.

The deceased reach the Underworld by Charon the ferryman. If he is paid his fee he will take souls across the river. Thus the custom of placing coins over the eyes of a corpse. So the soul can afford to pay Charon.

I am an expert on Greek myths. Hades was banished to the Underworld by his brothers Zeus and Poseidon. He stayed there forever and is still there now if you believe in this stuff. Hades only got to come up from the Underworld during the winter solstice for an annual meeting of the Gods.
