it takes time you have to put the boy in the same cage as the girl wait about a week or 2 so they can get used to each other and the boy can get used to the cage then they will mate and it should be fine x

my syrian hamster is about 5-7" long they are about the size of a rat!

Well they are both part of the rodent family but they have many differences like the guinea pig is bigger, less flexible, guinea pigs are not supposed to run in wheels or balls cause of their spine is not supposed to bend that way, they have different nutrients that they require so their food is different, i know that guinea pigs can see colours (not sure about hamsters). there is much more things but I am out of what i can immediately think of.

The problem with letting the hamster run all over the house, or even run in one room is that it might 'poop' all over and there is a chance it can escape or get lost. I used to lay a blanket on the floor and create a border (books boxes 2 sides of the wall) then you can put all sorts of fun toys/tunnels/ pillows/even toilet paper rolls all around- or anything that might be fun for your hamster to climb or jump into- then put some treats here and there. when your hamster is done playing you can bring the blanket outside/ throw off the 'remains' and wash it.
