There is lots like, Syrian, Chinese dwarf hamster, Campbells dwarf hamster, Robo dwarf hamster, Russian hamster. My favorite, is the blueberry campbells dwarf hamster and the Syrian hamster. They are the sweetest and easy to hold. NOT THE ROBO"S!!!

sorry, but i say no!!!!!!! if they escape and get lost od die, which happenes easy, he would be sooooo sad!! i have 6 year old twin brothers, and if a fish dies, they cry for a long time!!!!! plus, its hard to hold, who knows what their temper will be, and if the bedding is in the cage to long, it smells!! i have a hampster!! good luck!! - jona

i disagree with jona, i had a hamster myself that escaped quite often no matter how hard i tried to keep it contained and it still survived. it finally passed from old age. just make sure that he can be good with handling it and a lot of hamsters when are handled first may try to and likely succed at biting you. just give the hamster a few days to get used to him and all should go well. supervise that he feeds and handles correctly with the hamster. you might want to get the hamster a wheel as well for it to exercise and something to knaw its teeth on because (i know this sounds gross but its true!) their teeth will grow up into its brain and kill it. that's what the pet shop owner told me. hope this helps and good luck! -sj

Sometimes. Generally, hamsters are wide awake at night. This means they search for food in the dark and quiet of night. While they are sleeping during the day, you don't usually hear much, except for maybe if they scratch around a little, because of te instinct to remain silent, so to not be detected. I have had three dwarf hamsters before, and I have never noticed any of them making much noise, except for the wheel in the cage.

hamsters can be given small amounts of milk as a treat, it's not often done because a hamster can easily tip a bowl of milk over, compromising the hygiene of its enclosure

---- Well its quite symple really, firstly you need a boy and a girl of the same breed and then you put them in a cadge together ! let them play for about an hour a day then next time you visit the pet shop they will tell you if shes pregnant then weight 7 - 14 days and she'll have the baby it'll stay with your hamster for a wile but then move into a vacent cadge!

A teddy bear hamster and black bear hamster are the exact same animal, both are given "fancy" names in pet stores but are properly called Syrian Hamsters. They, of course, can mate. This is a difficult process though and the female has to be monitored closely. When she's in heat (about every 3-4 days), she'll raise her tail when you run your hand down her back. At this point, she can be put into the male's cage or place them both in neutral territory (NEVER put the male in her cage, she will kill him). Once mated, separate them immediately. If she became pregnant, you'll see signs around her second week of pregnancy. She'll give birth about three-four weeks after mating.

Make sure you have homes for the babies BEFORE breeding! She can have up to 15! Most pet stores will NOT take babies from someone who isn't a breeder.
