Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

In this movie and book, the main characters (Harry, Ron, and Hermione) are all quite young and known of the more adult themes have even come into play yet. Since they are about 11 or so, I believe a little below that would be a good age. It does get somewhat scary or frightening in the end, but otherwise I good work of art. It is rated G for all audiences, also.

Dragons are illegal in the wizarding world. They are extremely hard to tame, aren't friendly towards people and set fires. Rubeus Hagrid also lives in a wooden hut.

The characters and the setting of Harry Potter are all unique. As is the plot. Although wizards and orphaned children who become heroes are not unique, the more detailed elements of the plot is.

In The Philosopher's/Sourcer's Stone, Snape's role seems to be one of helping Voldemort back to power and so he treats Quirrell badly in order to get information of how to get past his protection for the stone. Later in The Deathly Hallows, we learn that Snape was keeping an eye on Quirrell on Dumbledore's orders and to learn what Quirrell was up to.

It's called the Forbidden Forest. They are part of Hogwarts grounds and house many creatures including the only domesticated herd of threstrals.

The forest is also the home to a colony of Centaurs, who have land set aside for them by the Ministry of Magic. The Forbidden Forest is a good place for this because it is hidden from muggles.

Harry Potter went the to Leaky Cauldron. There he was greeted by Cornelius Fudge who arranged for him to stay there.

Ron Weasley's internal conflict is his desire to stand out from his brothers. Being the sixth child, he has always been overshadowed and there is very little he thinks he can accomplish that one of his other brothers hasn't already done. He then becomes friends with Harry who is of course, very well known.

The book was published by Bloomsbury Publishing who handled the marketing. The original print run consisted of 500 copies, 100 of which were sent to libraries across the UK. The book wasn't heavily marketed, as it wasn't expected to perform well. The popularity grew mostly through word of mouth.

The movie was produced by Warner Brothers and was advertised much like any other movie, through trailers, posters, interviews and movie premiers. By this point, the first four books had been released and the series was gaining in popularity, which helped promotion of the movie.

Alan Rickman was 54 when filming began and turned 55 during filming.

Harry Potter was told to open his parcel away from the table, not at it, by Professor McGongall because she didn't want him to draw attention to the fact that he had been given a broomstick. Especially because the Nimbus 2000 was the best broomstick and first years were not typically allowed their own brooms.

She didn't want Harry to open his Nimbus 2000 infront of the other students because first-years are not allowed to have their own broomstick.

The snake is a boa constrictor. Harry accidentally released it.

The final movie was released in 2011. There will be no more movies in the main series.
