Is a hawk a nocturnal or diurnal bird?
Most hawks are not nocturnal. Nocturnal refers to the behavior of activity during the night, after sleeping during the day.
maybe. not many birds can kill a fully grown experienced house/wild/feral cat. an eagle will but any owl including snowy owl wont usually attack a cat if smaller prey is also in the area. if not they might but in turn the cat may do the same. i know this because my cat stalked a fully grown barn owl and killed it by going for the jugular.
They are mainly from warm and desert like climates. Such as Texas and Arizona's southern regions, and Mexico. They are very striking brids, and unlike most other hawks, they are usually seen in family groups and hunt together. Often perches out in the open on poles and other high objects and can be seen perching together. Parabuteo unicinctus-Harris's Hawk
Is the mosquito hawk the same as snake doctor?
According to my grandma Sadie (born & raised in Florida) they are the same thing.
Well, they can be.
"Mosquito hawk" is what we call a "common name", or an "informal name"; it is what people call any particular animal or plant in a particular place or time. It need not be correct, for example a mosquito is not a hawk and not a mosquito and it means different things in different places, and in a lot of places it means nothing at all because lots of people don't use the name. Common names are useful because they enable people in a particular place to talk about animals and plants and more or less understand each other most of the time, but they also are confusing because most animals and plants have no common names at all, most those that do have common names have more than one even in the same language, some in different places. Most common names also apply to more than one animal or plant. And a lot of common names have wrong meanings.
"Formal" or "scientific" names may be a bit harder to use in many ways, but they do better than common names in some of those ways.
For example, in some places a mosquito hawk is a Crane fly (also called a "daddy long legs". See what I mean about common names?). A crane fly is not a mosquito (though it , not a hawk, and doesn't hawk mosquitoes. It is a member of the fly Family Tipulidae, and that is a name that an insect scientist (entomologist) will recognise in any language in any place in the world.
In some places a mosquito hawk is indeed a dragonfly as grandma Sadie rightly said. It also is neither a mosquito nor a hawk, but it does catch mosquitoes in the air; it "hawks" them all right.
In some places a mosquito hawk is a damselfly. Damselflies are very closely related to dragonflies, and like dragonflies, damselflies are neither hawks nor mosquitoes, but do hawk mosquitoes. Most people who call dragonflies mosquito hawks also call damselflies mosquito hawks. Both are in the order Odonata, and again, an entomologist in any country should know the name Odonata, and what it means.
Crane flies are in the order Diptera and therefore are practically unrelated to dragonflies and damselflies.

Depends on what type of eagle and hawk you are talking about

Why are hawks very important to us?
Hawks are very important to us for several reasons. Hawks are carnivorous birds, so they're strong enough to catch their preys. Firstly, this is a long explanation about the pest control. Snakes and rodents are nasty pests because snakes can bite people, which some species can be venomous enough for some people to die. Rodents are also very bad because they can gnaw at people, invade our house and wreck stuffs, destroy farm crops which triggers some famine to people, and some rodents can carry some nasty diseases, which can trigger a plague like the European Black Death in the mid-13th century. However, the hawk these nasty animals, including the snakes and rodents, so that it can save people to reduce the risk of snakebites and rodent plagues. Hawks are part of the snakebite and rodent control because they usually prey on these small nasty animals. Secondly, this partially connects to the first reason point. Hawks are part of the food chain, just like other animals, and hawk is typically an apex predator. If the hawks went extinct, there would be a chaos to the food chain. The hawk usually eat snakes, rodents, small mammals, etc. for their food diet. The hawk eat these things everyday in order to control their prey population. If the hawks went extinct, their prey would overpopulate because there'll be nothing to hunt them down. The snake and rodent overpopulation is especially more terrible because it'll increase the vulnerable frequency of more snakebites and rodent plagues, in which people would be in a huge danger.
That's why we shouldn't hunt hawks into extinction, otherwise we'll all terribly affect ourselves at the end.
no. but they like to live in very high places, like other eagles, falcons, and other large birds.
If you are in an area populated with hawks and your cats are far from you, then yes, it is possible your cat could be a snack. I frequently have have these problems in my backyard, but not once has any of my cats been taken by a hawk. What you should do to avoid this event:
Hawks will not hunt if it sees a stronger, bigger thing that could harm it's hunt. So keep your cats within 5 or 7 yards from you.
Constantly scan the sky for any 'lingering' hawks. I've had hawks take to circling my cats from high above before. If you do see any hawks, go straight to your cat's side.
Follow that and your cats will be safe!
How do humans effect the Red-Tailed Hawk?
Im not the greatest person to be answering this but I would like to help. Humans actually help the red tailed hawks, I know it sounds wierd but we do. Our buildings can provide these hawks with shelter for building their nests and our telephone poles as well, since humans dont really bother them. Red tailed Hawks arent an endangered species, there are actually a lot of these hawks around. We also use them for falconry, we train them to hunt, which has helped their population number go up.
Hawks beaks are very useful. They are strong for breaking open things - snail kites' specialty, impaling things and for breaking down their prey into edible pieces for themselves or their offspring.
No, they are not venomous.
However, they are very large snakes with very strong feeding instincts. Even without venom, they can inflict a nasty bite, and should be left to experienced reptile keepers.
