What do you call the pressure of the blood coming out from the heart?
The heart has two pumps inside of it and each has two chambers and two valves. The left side of the heart has the biggest chambers, and the one that pumps the blood to your body is called the left ventricle, When it contracts (squeezes together), the first valve closes shut (that's the "lupp" sound of a heart beat) and the contraction pushes the blood up past the second valve and into aorta, which is the main artery that distributes the blood to the regular arteries that carry the blood throughout the body. When the blood goes into the aorta, the second valve shuts so the blood doesn't go backwards into the heart and that is the "dubb" sound of a heart beat.
What makes up most of the middle layer in the heart wall?
Most of the middle layer in the heart wall is composed of cardiac muscle cells. Cardiac muscle cells are also known as cardiomyocytes.
What are the genetic risks of having a heart attack?
Yes, they can be. Heart disease and myocardial defects can be genetically passed down generations. However, heart attacks can also be congenital based on lifestyle choices, weight, environmental conditions and more.
What chamber of the heart has the thickest myocardium?
The Left Ventricle has the thickest walls! The left ventricular myocardium is much thicker then the right ventricular myocardium because the left ventricle pumps blood into the aorta which takes blood to the rest of the body. (larger pressure gradient)
Where is your heart in relation to your lungs?
Trachea is in superior to the heart. It divides into two branches in back of (posterior to) the upper part of the heart; in other words, the heart is anterior and inferior to the trachea. Both are medial; neither is lateral to the other.
___________________________________________________
Here's what I think the above means.
The trachea is above the heart (nearer the head). The heart is in front of and below the trachea (nearer the waist). Both are in the center of the chest left to right, they are not beside each other left to right.
What is the heart part that collects blood from upper part of body?
The part of the heart which collects the blood from the upper part body is the RIGHT ATRIUM. The blood goes from the right atrium in the right ventricle and from the ventricle goes to the lungs where the gases interchange happens. The blood goes than in the Left Atrium through the pulmonary veins, it's pumped in the left ventricle and than it is pumped in the entire body.
Why does nicotine cause heart attack?
in the simplest terms possible illegal drugs will either slow your heart beat which is bad obviously because if it slows down too much you will die and if the drug is an upper such as cocaine ecstasy etc, your heart will beat faster and when you overdose on such a drug you'll have a heart attack and die.
Which diagnostic procedure monitors the flow of blood through the heart during activity?
Cardiac catheterization
What causes people's heart rate to speed up?
I did an experiment and it came out younger people have faster heart rates then older people. This may be because the younger peoples hearts are not fully developed and are more expandable which makes the heart pump faster. Or, it may be because younger people have a faster metabolism.
Where is deoxygenated blood located in the heart?
* Blood flows through the mitral valve (also known as the bicuspid valve) into the left ventricle.
* Contraction of the ventricle closes the mitral valve and opens the aortic valve at the entrance to the aorta.
* The first branches from the aorta occur just beyond the aortic valve still within the heart.
* Two openings lead to the right and left coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart itself.
Although the coronary arteries arise within the heart, they pass directly out to the surface of the heart and extend down across it. They supply blood to the network of capillaries that penetrate every portion of the heart.
* The capillaries drain into two coronary veins that empty into the right atrium.
The blood flow in the heart is controlled by?
heart rate is controlled by hormones as well as the autonomous nervous system. adrenaline, a hormone increases heart rate while the sympathetic nervous system decreases heart rate. Medulla Oblongata
What does the heart do for the brain?
the heart supplies blood to the brain and every other part of the body, and the blood carries oxygen which is consumed to power your body
What is the path of blood starting with the left atrium in the heart?
It pumps it around the body, the right atrium pumps blood to the lungs.
What three types of tissue make up your heart?
epicardium = the top layer that is actually 2 layers
myocardium= the middle layer also the muscle
endcardium= the inner most layer that seperates blood from muscle
For what reasons may an aortic valve replacement surgery be needed?
Aortic valve replacement surgery will be required if the valve in the heart is either too narrow for all of the blood to pass through or if the valve is leaking. This valve is very important as it prevents blood from rushing back into the heart after it has been pumped out.
Would you be at risk of a heart attack if you had shoulder pain on your left side?
Yes. Some people are born with their heart on the Right side of their body this is called Dextrocardia Situs Inversus. So if you see someone putting their hand over the Right side of their chest during the pledge of allegiance, don't be offended. You don't know where their heart is.
What is chambers of the heart?
The heart is divided into four chambers, the left atrium, the left ventricle, the right atrium, and the right ventricle. The two chambers in the upper portions of the heart are the atrium, and the two at the lower portions are the ventricles.
How many ventricles do humans have?
The human body has four different ventricles. They are the heart, veins, arteries, and capillaries. They are included in the circulatory and reperatory systems.

Why is getting a human heart transplant better than getting a artificial heart transplant?
Yes human heart is more biologically compatible than an artificial heart transplant. The patient will more likely reject the artificial organ or graft than the human one
What part in the body controls breathing and heart rate?
Respiration in humans is controlled by medulla, which is a part of the brain. The medulla is responsible for the provision of adequate amount of oxygen for every activity. Medulla sends signals to our body to provide oxygen for every activity like sleeping, eating, walking, exercising etc. Human brain measures the level of carbon dioxide in blood and makes necessary adjustments to balance the amount of oxygen and controls respiration rate. Breathing is controlled by the brain but it can be controlled voluntarily also like holding ones breath. But this is just temporary and the medulla takes charge again after a few minutes to restore the breathing.
Where can you find a simple diagram of the heart?
One can find instructions on how to draw a heart with wings from a wide variety of sources, including the art section of ones local library. One can also find this information via online streaming websites such as YouTube. YouTube will offer instructional videos on how to draw a heart with wings.
What is the largest heart valve?
There are four valves in the human heart. They are the:
1. Tricuspid valve
2. Pulmonary valve
3. Mitral valve ( also known as bicuspid valve)
4. Aortic valve
What is the valve between between the left atrium and left ventricle?
right atrium - right ventricle = TRICUSPID VALVE; right ventricle - lungs = PULMONARY SEMILUNAR VALVE; lungs - left atrium = not really a valve, more a perforation in the left pericardium; left atrium - left ventricle = MITRAL VALVE; left ventricle - aorta = AORTIC SEMILUNAR VALVE.
Do arteries carry blood to the heart?
The coronary arteries are responsible for carrying oxygen-rich blood to the heart. However, most oxygen-rich blood is being carried away from the heart, meaning that most arteries are not carrying blood into the heart at all. Veins are responsible for carrying de-oxygenated blood towards the heart so that their oxygen supply can be replenished in the lungs.
The two veins which actually enter the heart are the superior vena cava or the precava which carries blood from the upper half of the body into the heart and the inferior vena cava(IVC), also known as the posterior vena cava, which carries blood from the lower half of the body into the heart.
What system is the heart apart of?
The cadiovascular system, sometimes called the circulatory system when it includes the lymphatic system.
