Hedgehogs are not things to be bought to wrap up for Christmas, as much as kittens and puppies are not. They are animals that need to be taken care of. If you have researched (make sure you know EVERTHING! I studied for 1 month before I could even consider getting one, and I still had more to learn. Hedgehog care books from the library, websites about hedgie caring, anything and everything, read it!) thoroughly, then you are ready for the responsibility of a hedgie. You can get hedgehogs in some pet stores, but usually those ones are moody and aggressive. I suggest rescuing one. This is easier than it sounds. Email or call the Hedgehog Welfare Society and apply for the adoption list. You can also buy from a breeder. Keep in mind hedgehogs cost a lot of money, and so do their accessories (food, wheel, cage, ect.). A total hedgehog bill will be at about $500 (hedgehogs themselves usually go for $150-$250, unless you adopt or save on, which it is about $50) ALSO keep in mind hedgehogs are ILLEGAL in some states. In which case you must have a permit to own one.

also you could get a wheel but make sure its not a hamster wheel with the spaces your hedgie can brake its leg...(get a plastic one with NO spaces) But most of the time eat/sleep and poop XP

Yes, they do exist, but most if not all are under protection of humans. You would be lucky to see a wild albino crocodile, as they die very quickly out there.

Like most pets, they can have serious diseases like salmonella. Also keep in mind they are covered in spines which can pierce skin which can be annoying while holding one.

They should not have any. If a hedgehog has fleas, you should try a gentle flea shampoo or treatment on it. You can buy it at a pet store. The ones for puppies, kittens, or small animals are best.

Bigger pet stores like Bio Research often have a couple of Algerian Grays for sale, but you can get younger and healthier hedgehogs just by scanning the online ads. Hoglets go from an just under P1000 up to more than P3000 each, depending on color (Albinos being the cheapest, then the grays, then price goes up generally with lighter color). Buying hoglets from pet owners/breeders also makes it more likely your pet will be friendly --because they're handled and

petted on a regular basis. Make sure to read up on hedgehog care (lots of online resources to help you out).

Hedgehogs actually more intelligent then one would think. Even though they have poor eyesight they have an amazing sense of smell and hearing. They also have a good memory.

Generally early morning is best, around 5:00 AM, when they are heading back from the night's foraging.
