While delivering ammunition in an Air America (CIA) Huey, Captain Theodore H. Moore and Flight Mechanic Glenn R. Woods came across a pair of North Vietnamese Air Force An-2 Colt bi-planes in the process of attacking a secret US radar station just across the border in Laos. Woods had equipped himself with a contraband AK-47, and used this to shoot down both of the AN-2s. An air combat first.

During the Rhodesian Bush War a Rhodesian Air Force Alouette helicopter Gunship known as a K Car armed with a 20 mm Matra cannon was attacked by a Botswana Defence Force Islander which fired rockets at the K Car crewed by Chas Goatley and Beaver Shaw. The K Car engaged the Islander striking it twic with HE rounds forcing it down. This incident happened on the 9 August 1979.

Most helicopters use gas turbine engines, which wouldn't have a carburetor. There are still some manufactured which use reciprocating piston engines, though, and many of those do use carburetors (one example is the Robinson helicopters, which are powered by a Textron-Lycoming 0-320 motor).
