Is acrylic paint toxis for hermit crabs?
Acrylic paint is not toxic for hermit crabs. Although if and when you paint them make sure the shells are empty, do not paint on the bottom or in the inside of the shell, and last when you are finished painting it, let it sit for 5-10 days to let poison dry out.
Will hermit crabs die if given salt water?
No! Wrong kind of.
Hermit crabs need salt water but only once a week. If you don't it's fine but is highly recommended. I recommend HBH Hermit Crab Salt. You can get salt water at your local pet store so like Petsmart or Petco or any where else that has salt water. DON'T USE SALT WATER FROM THE OCEAN!

If you don't that's "OKAY." Go out and buy some salt water for your hermit crabs. If your hermie has lost a leg than that mean that it was either stressed because they aren't enough food or water, or they are stressed because the temp or humidity in the tank is not high enough (this is usally why). the humidity should be between 70 and 80%. the temp also between 70 and 80F.

It depends upon the size of the hermit crab. You can fit 5-7 small crabs in a 10 gallon tank but only 1 or 2 large crabs. The more room you leave for your crabs the happier and healthier they will be.
