Function shell crabs, also known as "decorator crabs," are marine crabs that use materials from their environment, such as algae, sponges, or other organisms, to adorn their shells. This behavior serves as a form of camouflage, helping them blend into their surroundings and avoid predators. By decorating their shells, they can also potentially deter predators who may be wary of the unusual textures and appearances. This adaptive strategy highlights the crabs' resourcefulness in survival within their habitats.
Hermit Crabs lay their eggs by going to where seawater is only.

Are painted shells good for hermit crabs?
No, they are not.
Painted shells--
*will chip and eventually look terrible.
*can cause the hermit crab to get sick or even die- the paint has chemicals in it, and when it chips, the paint can fall into their food or water, and the crab will eat it- not a good idea!
*are much less expensive than regular shells
*provide a bad home to the crab
Please - just get a natural shell. It is so much better for the crab.
Can you put shredded paper in your hermit crabs tank?
No, newspaper is not a good bedding for your hermit crab. Newspaper retains moisture and stays too wet. This will affect the humidity of your crabitat and also prevent heat from being retained.
If you are looking for a cheap substrate for your hermit crab(s) I suggest using sand such as the kids sandbox sand you can get from Home Depot (just make sure that the bag is not wet, as bacteria could pose harmful effects on the creature.) Or, you can use Cyprus shavings (which you can purchase in reptile sections of pet stores). Cyprus shavings promote healthy burying of your hermit crab.
Beddings to AVOID include: wood shavings (except Cyprus)...especially cedar as it is poisonous, cat litter (harmful if it gets into shell), garden dirt or potting soil (often contains fertilizer and pesticides, paper towels/newspaper (retain too much moisture and affect humidity), corn cob bedding (cannot burrow and it is rough on the legs) and finally...ground coconut/walnut shells (drain hermit crabs of moisture and they are sharp)
Can you youse sticks for hermit crab cage?
Yes, but make sure to boil them or rinse them with hot water and let them cool off before putting them in the crabitat. Even better, try to find some at a craft store, but make sure to clean them first.

All indications are that, if this is a genuine flipover double strike, your coin could be worth over $1,000. I suggest you send large magnified pictures to Mike Byers, an error coin dealer, and see what he has to say about it. You can email him at mike@mikebyers.com Good luck!
How do you mate hermit crabs easily?
, First you buy two hermit crabs a male and female to check if its a female or a male wait until the hermit crab comes out its shell and flip it upside down and if it has two holes on it fifth pair legs then its a female if it doesn't its a male. Next, go to the dollar store or somewhere and buy a kitty pool. After that, go to a pet store and buy Calci-sand and put the sand in the kitty pool and layer it like a hill. Now put salt water in the kitty pool not too much just enough to make it look like a beach and make sure there's sand at the bottom of the kitty pool. your almost done now all you have to do is put your hermit crabs in there with a bunch of little shells so the baby hermit crabs can go in them when the turn to land hermit crabs. this process will take a bout 2 months oh and don't forget to get a heater, food and guard rails just in case. there are other ways but this is the cheapest way you'll find on how to do it.
Thanks
Consecrated hermit refers to a person who has dedicated himself to God and publicly professing the three evangelical counsels.

all living creatures need to sleep.
In which country are hermit crabs found?
The Hermit crab is found along the Atlantic coast of the United States and West Indies. They are particulary common in Florida where they are often collected and sold into the pet trade. However, there are many different species and some may be found in other countires of the world but in general they will be found in countries with a tropical climate.
The coal powered Russian battleships during the Battle of Tsushima in 1905 were doing 8 knots due to fouling on their hulls (they had just completed sailing over 18,000 miles); their opposition was doing close to 15 knots (they had clean hulls).

Hermit Crabs walk around without shells because they are either molting, the climate is too hot, or they got into a shell fight with another Hermit Crab.
What does it mean when a hermit crab squeaks?
To hermit crabbers, these squeaks are called chirps, hermies make those noises when they are communicating with other hermies, for they are very very very social.
How do you bond with your hermit crab?
You give it all it needs ( research how to take care of a hermit crab). And have alots of space, change food, find out it's favorite food ( it will eat more of it than other foods).
Also you should let it climb on your hand (hand outstreched and as flat as possible). But don't keep them out too long. If a hermit crab pinches your skin, DON'T slam it to the ground ( it's a reaction0.
You need to put it over it's tank so it "smells" it's home. If that doesnt work run it LIGHTLY over tap water. A hermit crabs big claw can snap a pencil in two. A hermit crab will pinch you if it feels like it's going to fall.
Do you need a hermit crab sponge?
Land hermit crabs do not need a sponge in their tank. A sponge is high maintenance, it needs to be sterilized at least every 2 days due to they are known to harbor molds and bacteria. There are other methods one can use if they are attempting to boost the humidity within their tank.
That being said, if one is willing to do the high maintenance a sponge requires, it is a personal choice.
