Can a hermit crab live in moon sand?
probably not. but, you can always use your hermit crab as a guinnea pig for the rest of civilization wondering the same thing, then report back to us!
My hermit crab has lost both of its claws what can you do?
Both claws gone-
Hermit crabs use the big claw as a shield, a hand, and a weapon, the smaller shell is normally used for drinking water. It will be able to eat powdery or wet food with the small claw, but won't be able to defend itself, so it will be kind of skittish and scared. The claw will only grow back the next time it molts, which if she is small, will most likely be within a few months.
If both claws are gone, crab will be able to pick up small bits of food with it's chelipods (mouth parts), continue to offer very small and soft foods.

How long do red claw crabs live up to?
They can live up to 2 years old with sea salt, a big tank and plenty of water.
How much sea salt do you put in a hermit crab salt bath?
First, land hermit crab salt water should be mixed according to package directions with a marine-grade salt mix such as Oceanic or Instant Ocean (you can find these online & at pet stores). Secondly, you should not bathe your land hermit crabs unless they are fresh from a pet store or have an issue like mites. Instead, you should provide a "pool" or dish deep enough for them to get in and dip the edge of their shell in to bathe themselves when they need to. Over bathing can result in fatal stress and/or messing with the concentration of fresh and salt water in their shell. Third, if you do have to bathe your crab, the only way you should use salt water is if you rinse them with fresh water after, too much salt water on their skin can be harmful. Remember, all hermit crab water should be treated to remove chlorine and chloramines; distilled water works great or you can buy a tap water conditioner.
What if your hermit crab will only eat fresh veggies and not hermit crab food?
Well, acually, if your putting your little hermie on a vegie diet, that's great! Hermit crabs eat organic fruits and vegitables. Hey, did you know that they also like to eat washed egg shells? Are scabies the same as crabs?
No. Scabies is a microscopic mite that are usually found on dogs. "Crabs" a.k.a. "pubic lice", are lice. Like the lice that people get in their hair, but head lice and public lice are different in the way that they are physiologically built to infest certain parts of the body.
A palm thief is another term for the coconut crab - a species of terrestrial hermit crab.
What do you spray with on a land hermit crabsalt water or tap water?
Never give/spray your hermit crab with tap water. It constricts their gills and WILL kill them. Use bottled or distilled water, you can also buy hermit crab water conditioner at your local pet store for about 3 dollars. It will give instructions on how much to put into the tap. Salt water is mostly for soaking, so just put some in a shallow bowl in your crabitat, as well as fresh water, and make sure that its shallow enough so the smallest crab won't drown but the biggest crab soak in it. Hope that helps! :)
