It depends. Dark chocolate is lot better than the milk or white chocolate because it uses less sugar and has more of the natural cocoa bean. White and milk chocolate is more of a processed chocolate that adds more sugar and more of the artificial stuff.
My mother, born in 1922 always told me that Hershey bars came out during WWII and were given to the soldiers in their MRE's. Many great recipes came out during the second world war that used Hershey bars.
This may or may not be exactly when they came out. But I had this conversation many times with my mother. She was in her 20's during the war so I think she would remember well.
A serving size contains 9 pieces or "kisses" which includes 22 grams of sugar, therefore each Hershey's kiss has approximately 2.4g of sugar

The color of the Hershey's chocolate bar wrapper depends on the type of chocolate. You see, Milk chocolate can come in a light brown with a touch of white or silver lettering. More input from FAQ Farmers: * That's the outer wrapper. The inner wrapper is silver on the outside and white on the inside. * Dark brown outside with the words hershey in silver and white inside the wrapper. * It's actually a maroon color and not brown. * The wrapper is black with gold writing or there is a box that is white with a floral design on the front. * The portion that actually holds the bar is silver w/ white inside. the package that is displayed is dark brown with white letters indicating, "HERSHEY'S milk chocolate. If it is dark chocolate, then the letters are gold. * Actually according to the food network, the color of the wrapper is a very dark purple! * Maroon and silver * It's the color of chocolate! ANSWER: Well I have Hershley kisses which were purchased in New York. They are wrapped in silver with a little piece of paper sticking out saying 'kisses' Hope that helps
Milton Hershey's first successful candy making making business was selling caramel. He started the Lancaster Caramel Company. In 1900, he decided that since his best selling items were caramels dipped in chocolate that he wanted to pursue chocolate making.
He sold his caramel company and with the proceeds bought 30 acres of dairy farm land and started perfecting his own recipe for good tasting and affordable milk chocolate (at the time milk chocolate was an expensive luxury).
He produced his first Hershey chocolate bar in 1900 and followed up with the production of Hershey Kisses in 1907. He broke ground on what is now the Hershey Foods Corporation on March 2, 1903.

Yours is a vague question. There is more than one "Hersheys Chocolate" (there are a number of different kinds of candy bars that Hersheys makes). However, due to their popularity, most of the candy bars that Hershey's makes are on a continuous production system. However, some products (such as the seasonal ones) are on intermittent production systems.
