Stanley learns about himself as they climb the mountain by knowing his strength because he is carrying Zero and climbing a mountain. Stanley learns about Zero by knowing he wants a fudge sundae when he gets to the “Italian Restaurant.”

the plot of this book is that Stanley got accused of stealing a pair of shoes from a orphanage and getting stuck at camp green lake but really someone else stole the shoes and threw them down from a bridge and Stanley found them and took them and the person was zero

zero does not know anything he does not talk. he stole a famous shoe which he did not even know they were famous. then the police came and he quickly threw the shoes. when he cant do anything (he cant talk or read) he got a friend and talks to him only (zeros friend is called Stanley). when he stole those shoes he got sent to Camp Green Lake.

her polish was made from dry rattlesnake venom. When it's dry it's safe. But when it's freshly painted and wet it's bad for you. That's why when Mr.Sir was slapped by her it left 3 red scars. It also explains why whenever someone gets her mad she starts painting. It shows the reader that the Warden is a cruel woman whom doesn't care about other's pain and suffering. You heard at the end SPOILER how she and Mr. Pendanski were planning on erasing Zero's records so no one could say he was once alive so that the death would be forgotten. You also heard them planning out what lie they would tell Stanley's parents. She, and every other adult in Camp Green Lake (That includes Mr.Pendanski) are cruel people who are willing to cover up a child's death for their stupid box of jewels.

good things come about when you work hard and stand up for your beliefs. justice is served. thus, not one, but many people will succeed as one. therefore, the life lesson, though there are many more in holes, that i would say is the main one is helping a friend even though all odds are against you. obstacles are meant to be overcome and stanley and zero ran away despite the agonising heat and barren land. why? because they stood up for their beliefs. stanley wanted to help zero and zero thought that he did not deserve to be in a place where he was teased.

when stanley wants to see his dog again but his dinkie gets hidden

The main problem that Stanley faces in the holes book is that he is sent to camp green lake because he was blamed on stealing a pair of shoes that he finds out the boy who really stole the shoes is at camp green lake.
