Potentially, yes. Due to the acetaminophen content in these hydrocodone-acetaminophen tablets, taking significant amounts of them (especially on a chronic basis) does place the kidneys at significant risk of injury.

I'm not a medical professional, but I have taken Ativan and hydrocodone together many times as they were prescribed to me. My psychiatrist prescribed the Ativan to me and knew I was taking hydrocodone for recent surgeries. I rarely take the two at the same time, but when I have in the past the most I ever took was 20mg of the hydrocodone with 2mg of Ativan. Hope this helps!

I was fine on 30 mg of methadone, and then stailized at 40 mg.

I was taking vic's through the night too. And it was hard taking methadone once a day. That's probably why I needed 40 mg of meth.

On the flip side, I should of tried subutex for withdrawl, although its expensive it would of been less of an addiction.

Now I have been taking meth for 5 years, because I enjoy it. Its really NOT good.

Think twice before switching, if you want to be addicted worse then be my guest!

As a long time user of Hydrocodone and being experienced with lorazepam, in fact having taken them both at the same time, I would suggest taking the Hydro's first and then later if you need help getting to sleep take the Lorazapam. If you take them both the Lorazapam just makes you tired and cancels out much of the effect of the Hydro's... If I even wanted to feel the reaction from the Hydro's I've found I have to take twice as much as normal when on Lorazapam and it still isn't as pleasent. Don't waste perfectly good hydro's mixing them with a downer.

No. Vicodin is much stronger than Darvon. Both are narcotic pain relievers which require a prescription in order for you to obtain them legally. Darvon can be perscibed with another pain reliever like Tramadol in order to relieve pain. Their are similar effects from both because they are derivitives of an opiate-like substance which acts on centers in the brain that tell you how to perceive pain. If you are not use to taking Vicodin, Darvan would be a better option because it would not knock you out, rather, just puts you in a good mood and takes the edge off the pain. Vicodin knocks the pain out and definitley makes you a bit loopy. Some side effects of Vicodin can be nausea (if taken on an empty stomach), lightheadedness, tracers, etc. Vicodin is definitley for moderate to extreme pain and should not be taken if you have a history of drug addiction or drug seeking nature.

They say it can stay in your system up to 3days. It can be out alot sooner too. I took one in the AM and had an unexpected drop in the afternoon and i told the lady i was gonna be dirty and i had a script and she said it was clean!....ive heard it sticks to fat cells and i am petite. maybe that was it...also drink alot of water. that cleans your system.

You should stop aspirin or any other anticoagulants at least 5 days prior to surgery. Your surgeon should instruct you specifically when to stop it though.

For several years, I took hydrocodone for pain from an old skiing accident. It was tough to get off of it. I had to stop getting the prescription filled (first step), be willing to put up with the pain (which felt a lot worse just after stopping the hydrocodone than it does now), and begin to change the habit of taking a pill whenever I started to feel even a little discomfort. Honestly, it took several tries. I eventually realized that I wasn't thinking about it all the time and relied on aspirin whenever my back pain got the better of me. Would I want to take a hydrocodone today if I could? Yes, probably. I realized that it comforted me, regardless of the pain. But I also know I couldn't take it because I'd be concerned I'd be back to the old pattern and I've moved on from that time. I think my personality changed when I stopped taking the pills. Whenever I took them, I think I was in an altered state whether I thought I was or not. I didn't realize that until after I stopped them and started reading about some of the side effects; mood changes are one of them. It's great not to have that as a thing that used to consume me...how many did I have left? When could I get a prescription, etc. After stopping hydrocodone, I stopped smoking, too, and "went all healthy." If it helps your friend, please tell him/her that going through the beginning of the withdrawal is worth whatever they feel, and to stick with it.

325mg where ten % of that will be hydrocodone the rest will be aspirin or whatever, then there is 500's always a 10% ratio between hydrocodone and the aspirin, 750's and 1000's

hydrocodone starts at 2.5 mgs , then 5 mgs , then 7.5 mgs ,then 10 mgs...the 325 and 500 and 650 you see on the bottles are the amounts of acetaminophen in each pill....i thought this would be a little more clear to you than the above answer

No, they are the same drug. Both of them are hydrocodone, so you are taking the same drug, just a different name.

Hi' I have two herniated discs L5-S1 and I'm in considerable pain when on my feet' walking and working etc.

I have been given Dihydrocodeine 30mg four times daily' this really helps with the pain, but I would like to know if it is possible to take Amitriptyline 10mg with this to help releive the imflamation of the muscle around the discs ?

Yes they do, both will show up as opiates in your system. The person administering the test won't know if your on Oxycontin, Hydrocodone or even Heroin. It will just give a positive result for opiates like any opiate drug will. You cannot tell which opiate from a urine test.

You can, but it's typically not recommended since both drugs are chronic pain medications generally prescribed in their timed-release form. Either one or the other is used - OxyContin lasts up to 12 hours, while Fentanyl, generally prescribed as a transdermal patch, can last up to 72 hours. Oral Fentanyl and OxyContin can used, but again it's generally not done unless the Fentanyl is in pill form and short acting. Fentanyl is more likely to be prescribed as the primary chronic pain med with Percocet (which has Oxycodone, the base drug for OxyContin, the time release version) for breakthrough pain.

As long as you're using one as a timed-release drug and the other in short acting form (4-6 hours), it's okay. It's using both together in timed-release versions where problems can arise.

It is perfectly ok to use both, contrary to above. I suffer from chronic pain, and take 20mg Oxycontin 2 times a day, and apply a 75mcg fentanyl patch every 72 hours. I have been on each seperatly and I find several pain "holes". but on both, I can actually function to 95% of my original capabilities.

Actually the above poster is correct. I take 240mg of Oxycontin a day and my dr prescribed 100umg fentanyl to better even out the levels of narcotics I had in my system. Now this just happened to be what worked for me so you should ask your doctor before trying. Fentanyl is some bad mojo if abused.

I got off of it by substituting caffeine and candy in large amounts with the actual drug and then gradually decreasing the sugar and caffeine daily to zip after 2 weeks I was off. But I still had a night or 2 of cold sweats and a nightmare. I was also prescribed this medication and was not abusing it.

Did the doctor that prescribed you Vicodin know you were on Xanax? Phone your pharmacist and find out, both those drugs can cause drowsiness, both are addictive-especially Vicodin. Knowing the kind of trouble narcotics can cause even on a prescription basis I would only ask a professional qualified to answer.
