The Stanley Cup has been dropped, a number of times, however no one person has ever admitted to it. In 1905, a member of the Ottawa Senators tried to drop kick the Cup across the Rideau Canal.

In 1962, the Toronto Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup. During a party after the win, the trophy was dropped in a bonfire and badly damaged. It was repaired at the expense of the team.

Wayne Gretzky was never drafted. He had a WHA contract with the Indianapolis Racers. In 1979 when the WHA merged with the NHL the NHL team associated was allowed to keep 2 players from their WHA team. Gretzky was obviously a choice for Edmonton and was therefore never drafted into the NHL.

I believe you meant Frank Brimsek. But...he was one of the first. Not sure who the first was. He may have been the first or second US born goalie. Known as "Mr. Zero". Bobby Carpenter was the first US Born player ot score 50 goals in a seasonand I believe the first to be drafted 1 overall by the Washington Caps in 1981 or so...

Ron Hextall of the Flyers in 1987 was the first goaltender to shoot the puck into the net for a goal. However, the first goal awarded to a goaltender was given to Bill Smith of the Islanders in 1979. He was the last player to touch the puck for the Islanders before the other team (Colorado Rockies) shot the puck into their own net. Hextall was also the first goalie to score a goal in a playoff game, that being in 1989 against the Washington Capitals.

The University of Michigan Wolverines have the most Division I College Hockey Championships with 9. The closest to them is the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux with 7.

The team was named by Carol McGregor, who was the wife of the original owner of the franchise, Pennsylvania State Senator, Jack McGregor.

There was no champion that year due to a flu that broke out across the Montreal Canadiens' team, which killed a defenseman on the team named Joe Hall, so they stopped the series with both teams winning 2 games apiece.

The North Stars never won a Stanley Cup, but made appearances in the Stanley Cup Finals in 1981 and 1991. The North Stars lost to the New York Islanders in 5 games in 1981 and the Pittsburgh Penguins in 6 games in 1991. In 1993, the franchise relocated to Texas and became the Dallas Stars. The Dallas Stars reached the Cup Finals in 1999 and 2000, winning the championship in 1999 in 6 games over the Buffalo Sabres. The New Jersey Devils defeated Dallas in 6 games to capture the 2000 Stanley Cup.

Most recently, Darryl Sittler scored 6 goals for Toronto on Feb. 7, 1976, against the visiting Boston Bruins (including one when he was trying to pass from behind the net). He added four assists for an NHL record 10-point game. Previous 6-goal games were posted by Red Berenson in 1968; Syd Howe in 1944; both Cy and Corb Denneny in 1921; Joe Malone and Newsy Lalonde in 1920; and Joe Malone's record 7-goal game in 1920.
