A reason to ban slang words would be because it's common for youth to lose understanding of what isn't slang and what is; it becomes so common in usage from generation to generation that what is grammatically incorrect is thought to be formally correct when speaking and/or writing. This, in turn, makes communication difficult between youth and for those whose jobs it is to be grammatically correct (such as teachers or business men and women) or between youth and generations (or people in general) who haven't fallen prey to the usual trend of words. Along with this, spelling suffers greatly.

I know some common Latin idioms. Many I'm sure you have seen before.

Sub Rosa. Literally means Under the rose. It is used like secret, or secret doings. Ex. She planned the surprise party sub rosa(in secret).

Ipso facto, by that very fact Ex. Ipso facto, he is guilty.

Non compos mentis, not in possesion of ones senses, Insane, or crazy.
